A Much Needed Tracer Modification - Dinette Table

I haven't taken the time to 'give back' to the forum as much as I've benefited over the years, so when I tackled this easy project (2-3 hours) I thought I'd grab some pictures and pass along.

The Tracer U Dinette has metal frame tubes that are positioned perfectly for you to slam your knees into the corners every time you slide into the booth - OUCH! This was an easy modification to do yourself, with a little patience and care.

After drawing a template of the cut away curve, I drew the cut line on all eight surfaces, and used a Dremel metal cut wheel to chop the corners along the lines. Then, I switched to a grinding wheel to clean up the metal, followed by sand paper to smooth. Lastly, some black touch up paint was applied on the cuts to make it look OEM. VOILA! No more banged knees.

Prime Time - if you make this mod. in future models, I want credit Happy Trails Everyone!

Looks real great. The only thing that would make it better,IMHO,would be to get some of the edge trim to slip over the ends of the metal.I wouls still find away to bang and cut myself.

EXGTM - that's beautiful; how did you mount the legs on the slide floor without penetrating? Looks great!
