Bighorn Mountains

Camped for a few days in the Bighorn Mountains of Wyoming. Was a little chilly this time of year, had to clear frost off the windows one morning. Remember, if you can plug in your camper, it ain't camping We spent 5 days living off the 60 gallon tank and relying on the one battery to run the furnace through the night. I will be adding one or two more batteries soon.

I wondered what the giant omelette was going to look like since I'd only seen the beginning of it with your Facebook picture.

It looks AWESOME!

I love the Big Horns! What campground did you stay at or was it dispersed camping?

We just found a hole we could fit four campers in then built a fire ring. It was in the lower entrance to Elgin Park. I usually like to camp on Sourdough creek but it was full. I only live about an hour's drive from Elgin so it is easy to get to.

SBElliott, we just purchased the 290RLT Crusader and wondered about the one battery. I've used two six volts to boondock but was told this is a large 12volt. Didn't know what to expect, what are the amps on these batteries? The built in battery box makes it a little akward to add a second battery. just looking for some feedback. we are planning our first trip the 24th of this month.

I have my 2 6 volts located in the front of the truck box. I have a BAK Flip bed cover that protects them and they charge from my alternator. The alternator in the truck is rated at 200 amps. I do have to plug my trailer into the truck via a 12 volt extension cables but If I go on an excursion with the truck they recharge. As a plus I have a 2000 watt inverter connected to the battery bank and mounted in the truck bed also. This works for me.

I was running the generator while we got ready for bed and then I would turn it off about 10pm. By 0630 the furnace fan was getting pretty wimpy, lowest temp I saw was 30.6 degF. I will have four 6 volters installed for next year with a 3 stage charger. There is so much storage room that I only have a tool box and a shovel in the front compartment now.
