Our front cap on our 2016 Crusader has started fading and we are at 11 months. I will say though that our dealer ( Northgate Rv Center Ringgold Ga.) is on the ball and we should have the cap painted within the next two weeks.

They are going to paint it back the same color which I am fine with. I was just glad that they were able to get to it before it's out of warranty.

It's amazing to me that after several years of this that the new trailers are still having this problem.

I saw pictures of new Crusaders and noticed they had the cream color caps. Maybe the trend is changing. Ours faded and Primetime repainted at 25 months out. I believe they told us the cap warranty was 30 months. I know its longer than the rest of trailer. Ours is a 2014 and it faded virtually overnight, cause we had our eye on it.

Our 28RL faded after just owning it for 6 months, but 3 Way Campers in Kennesaw, Ga.
Got approval and it's being repainted and new decals right now.

I have cap fade on the front and back of my 2014 Sanibel. 26 months after purchase the caps faded. I contacted Prime Time about 30 month warranty and was told the warranty starts on the day of manufacture of the cap, not purchase date. Was told my caps were over the 30 month limit and there was nothing they could do. My 2 year warranty was expired but luckily had been extended by Prime Time due to many issues I have had with coach. It is currently at the dealership being repainted. Just be aware cap warranty is from date of manufacture, not purchase. Check before coach warranty is up.

Our unit is a 2014 bought in October of 2013. We noted fading two years ago and were remiss in not reporting it then. The fading intensified this year and when we turned it in our claim was denied because it was beyond the 30th month. It's a shame as we covered it or had it inside for six months each of the last two years. I read in a recent publication had a Grand Design with the same scenario and even though it was out of warranty Grand Design repainted the front. They didn't want their units in the field looking that way.

That just shows who cares and who don't and FR don't seem to care. Interesting to see what happens with Grand Design now that Winnebago owns them

I am having it removed by a local body shop. At this point I don't know if I will
paint or have a custom decal made.

This picture appears to be the decal failing which is unfortunate but different than cap fade which is a dark colored gel coat fading.
You can order a new decal from your dealer.

Repaint Done

Took my 2015 294RLT in for front cap repaint in October of 2016. The dealer and Prime Time had no issues in doing the repaint. Problem was the contractor (body shop) no longer had a facility to do the work. Dealer eventually located another contractor who has painted the cap, and it looks quite nice. Because of our really cold weather and the dealer desire to wait at least 30 days to apply the decals, I still do not have the unit. That causes me no problems as it would have been idle at my location anyway. However, as spring approaches I am hoping to get it soon. The dealer (not the selling dealer, but a seller of other Prime Time products) has been great to work with, excellent service writers.

My Spartan 1032 toy hauler experienced the same fading. My dealer noticed and without any hesitation set up an appointment to have the entire front cap replaced...and no cost whatsoever to me. Forest River covered it...at 2 years old. Looks beautiful again. My dealer...Steve Casey Four Seasons RV in Wheat Ridge CO provides outstanding service.

Has anyone tried this fix for the cap if Forest River declines to paint? If you are a body shop guy please read the thread and comment. Thanks.

My cap started fading in less than a year. Dealership painted it and now there a spots where the paint was put on to thick and it ran. Also have scratches on the lower part of the cap. I assume from a ladder.

I don't think our dealer does any quality control. Whenever they work on it they screw something up. In stead of looking at the work they did I need to start looking at what they screw up. They also do not do everything I point out that needs to be done.

A/c not working properly. If I'm lucky it will cool the camper 4 degrees below outside temp.

Fridge not working properly. Freezes stuff in the refrigerator part. I've adjusted the thing on the fins several time. The fins are always frosted up.

Table was loose due to screws coming loose. Service department put longer screws in and gouged the floor when they put the slide in.

When we bought the camper we paid to have the camper treated with a product called Duratain. The dealership had the person apply it outside during a thunderstorm because they told them we wouldn't take delivery unless it was done. That was a lie. It looked like crap and I removed it and had it redone at my house while I supervised.

The list is longer and we are stuck with them because they are the only dealership that provided "forever warranty". That was the reason my DW wanted to buy from them. We also got sucked in a 7 year extended warranty. They saw us coming. It was our first RV.

Don't blame yourself. Things happen. Just learn from your experience and maybe file in small claims court to get the forever warranty money back. Good luck.
