My 295RST front cap started fading after 5 months and now it is 16 months old it looks 20 years old.
Prime time are knowingly sending out faulty front caps hoping owners don't force them to honour their flimsy warranty.

Cedar Creek is having the same problem. I noticed the top of my front cap and the top of the rear cap fadeing at about a year from purchase, first picture. I purchased the second year warranty. The Cedar Creek warranty "fix" was to sand/buff/apply a UV sealer wax. This "fix" was completed in late March 2015 by the dealer. Looked good the day I picked it up on 3/27/15. Less than a month later on 4/22/15 after stopping at an interstate rest area I took the second picture. It had already started to fade. Third picture taken on 8/3/15, the fade keeps going down the front. Dealer says CC is going to paint or replace caps but still don't have a definitive answer. I got a quote from a shop in Indiana, 500 miles away, for $1,600 to paint both caps. If dealer does the repair it is a 155 miles away. Either way I have spent a lot of money in fuel and time so far. Consulting a 30 veteran of the boat industry, where gel coat is used, tells me that looks to him cheap gel coat caps were used and he could not recommend painting over gel coat. He ask me not to ask him to paint it, he didn't want to do it. My biggest mistake was not spending the additional $7,000 and getting a full body paint unit.

Prime Time has authorized the painting of my front cap. They have only authorized up to 1500. With that said my dealer (who is outstanding) has said that they can get it fully painted for 1500. We are going ahead with it, without the decals. I will then contact PT to see if they will pony up on the decals. If not, the rig doesn't get any.

I have dropped off my rig at my dealer to have the cap painted. I have reached out to PT to see what they can do about the decals. I have ZERO intentions of paying out of my own pocket to have their decals re-applied. If they don't step up, the rig will go without them. I will then go to the rally next summer and see what happens from there. Although I doubt it will come to that.

My dealer has the rig until Oct 1. I have no doubt whatsoever that they will make it right. They are outstanding.

Just noticed today, my 2014 lacrosse has the dreaded nose fade going on.
Wasn't there in the spring. Needless to say this kind of stuff makes me sick!

There is definitely a pattern with all the brands and dark colors. I don't know if it is the heat or paint they are using? It will be a test of time that will tell. To bad that eveyone is going through this....

As others have said it seems to be an industry-wide problem with the dark colours on the nose cap. My step-sister and her husband have a Crossroads Sunset Trail TT with the same issue. He didn't want to pay to have it redone professionally so he taped off the bad section and used a can of spray paint. Then he applied pin stripping along the edge of the area he painted. Cost him about $20 in materials. Definitely not a professional job but you really don't notice it if you're not looking for it since the area is up high and not vertical.

Who is your dealer? It's always good to hear about good dealers in the Toronto area.

I believe I've seen every Color do this. My white cap keystone had oxidation on top but because the chalking was white it was far less obvious. Just a lack of shine.

So i picked up my 5th wheel today from the Forest River factory in Oregon after they replaced the front cap. They left off all of the decals from the front, they put them inside the trailer. So my question is that since I am still seeing the people are still having oxidation issues on new rigs i am wondering if i should take this opportunity being brand new if i should have a automotive clear coat sprayed on the entire cap. FR is telling me that this cap has the new and improved gel coat but i dont want to have a fading issue again in two years it was pretty bad. What does everyone think?

Going to follow this thread as I see many 5ers with this front cap top fading issue at my seasonal lot camground. Like 5th wheels but the fading just makes me re-think ever getting a 5th wheel. Hopefully they will resolve issue in the coming years.

Talking to FR reps, it's a problem with the "dark colors" on the fiberglass caps. The manufacturer of the fiberglass knows about this issue and is correcting the problem. I'd be willing to bet that some of the trailers that have those dark brown front caps may begin to show the same problems as us 5th. wheel owners. Of course I surely hope not.
Forest River is doing a wonderful job at standing behind these problems, even when the units are out of warranty.

Forest River is doing a wonderful job in some cases, and a very poor job in others.
They will try and avoid covering costs or offer part of the cost sometimes, even when under warranty.
