LaCrosse Queen Mattress mods

Re: LaCrosse Queen Mattress

We would like to know what solutions others have made to their Short Queen Mattress in the way of toppers. Currently Costco has a reg Queen ( 80" L x 60" W) Novaform Gel Memory Foam Topper on sale, but I was curious if this type of mattress can be trimmed to size (gel?) without too much difficulty. The corners are also square. The cut-away view of the mattress (on the box) looks as though the mattress is mainly foam inter-sprinkled with gel beads. The option for Sleep Number mattress is too expensive. Please share your thoughts and successful mattress modifications.

Thanks!

Had a pillow top on the short queen in our old keystone. We just let it drape over the front and back and stretched the fitted sheet over it.

The DW and I just went through this. New Trailer for us so the comfort of the bed was important. We purchased a queen sized memory foam (2.5") from Sams Club and a Pillow top to go over that. The mattress from the factory might as well have been a ply-wood sheet it was so hard. The addition of these two items helped out tremendously. Its not a sleep number but for under 200 bucks it isnt bad at all.

We did not cut anything as the overhang helps use up some of the left over mattress cover and sheets.

Best!

We bought the exact Novaform gel mattress topper that you are referring to. The bed is now very comfortable and I trimmed it using a normal pair of scissors. Would highly recommend.

We have a 230 Tracer, with a 60 x 74 mattress that was too hard for our tastes. We put a 60" wide 6" diameter round bolster pillow at the head of the bed and cut a memory foam topper to fit the combination, that is, 60 x 80. A standard fitted cover went over that, and normal sheets / comforter on top. Since there was some room between the foot of the bed and the back of the entertainment center no mods to the trailer / bed were needed. The plywood under the bed isn't as long as the mattress, but it hasn't been noticeable, and if it does become a problem I can cut another 6" longer piece of plywood to replace it.

We also added the memory foam topper. We just moved the mattress away from the headboard about three inches, and placed the topper flush with the headboard. This configuration works fine without trimming the topper. It sleeps almost as good as our tempurpedic at home. We just got home from a nice trip to Stone Mountain, GA. Enjoy!

Yup......Same here with the Walmart 2" memory foam topper and a queen heavily padded mattress cover. We just let the topper fold over the head of the bed with the padded mattress cover also and just tuck it all under the head of the bed. This also makes the bed just a little longer too. It's a whole lot more comfortable then the standard mattress that came with the TT.
