Missing camper

Safety is my biggest concern. Have a friend who has one roughly the same weight and size but a different brand. He says he has trouble in the mountains and we will be venturing west sooner than later. If I am wrong here by all means tell me. I am learning.

Here is the door placard of my truck
Something doesn't seem right with it. Everything I have found shows anywhere from 2700-3200 so why would mine be different?

Going off topic here a bit. And there are plenty of threads on this on the forum. FRF google search for them.

You will have a sticker that looks like this on your door jam. With that info, taking your truck to the scales to get weighed, you could crunch some numbers.

Let's try this one. Looks a little less shocking to me. I guess without weighing I won't know much.

Features and the diesel make the difference. Ok so they are offering you a TT or a 5er to select from and you have been thinking of going to a 5th wheel before this unfortunate event occurred.

I say don't hold back and up size your Silverado as well. What other time would be any better than this one. You may be surprised value of your 3/4. PM me if you want to discuss additional options since this would be off topic.

Whatever you decide to do enjoy your replacement rig.

If I were to try and do that I would loose my ass. I just bought this truck in June and put about a grand in accessories on it thus far. I found this '15 with only 6k on the odometer and everything I wanted within my price range. To trade it now with 11k I seriously doubt I would be getting anything near what I paid for it back out of it. I am feeling I am screwed all the way around.

Hello sorry to say but 2,300 lbs is what you can carry including pin or tongue weight. You mentioned be safe and Mountains. I would say a TT is best option for you. Any fifth wheel is going to put you over quickly. A Rockwood/ Flagstaff are some of the lighter ones.

I have been here as well. The safety aspect and very dangerous situation had me looking for the F250.

I had a F 150 traded for F 250 with Power Stroke. My CCC on the F 250 was 2350 lbs and with the Truck Camper package I could get 2700 lbs out of it. I had a option after year 1 of owning the F 250 to upgrade to a F 350 for minimal cost. I have 3800 lbs CCC now and we have a fifth wheel upgrade path available.

I would look at all your gear and passengers. Add up that and tongue weight.

From what I learned from searching the Internet, the GVWR of 10,000 lbs is an artificial number applied to most 2500 and 3500 pick-up trucks by the manufacture. If a trucks GVWR exceeds 10,000 lbs it then has to comply with the DOT regulations. Under 10,000 lbs. NO DOT compliance required.

If I remember correctly there is a notation on the new vehicle window sticker of these pickup trucks with actual GVWR ratings exceeding 10,000 lbs. are stickered at 10,000 lbs. (to stay out of the DOT regulations.)

With that said if you weigh the rear axle and subtract it from the rear axle rating on the door sticker you will arrive at a number you can work with, maybe!

GM towing guide states that you can tow a 16,400 lb. fifth wheel. A 15% pin weight is 2460 lbs. 25% is 4100 lbs. Also stated is not to exceed the sticker GVWR.

Where on your truck did you find this? I have not been able to find one on my truck, only the payload sticker on the door frame.

I knew taking it there that they would not get to it until January. I received a call from Primetime on Friday and the guy informed me that they have lost my camper. They do not know where it is and are not sure if a transporter took the wrong camper somewhere or not, they contacted the transporter and they have stated they did not do it. HE told me that he hoped it would just show back up over the new year long weekend and if it did not he would be in contact with me to start the setup of a new 2017 to replace mine. I received a call from another person on my fuel reimbursement check this morning and I bent her ear on the status and she said it did not show back up and they would be calling me this afternoon. I have not received the call and inquired with my contact and she tells me the person that will call had an emergency and had to leave early and will be in touch tomorrow. Sounds like unless a miracle happens I will be getting a new camper and the personal items that were left in there replaced, but I will not know for sure until he calls tomorrow. This is a mess and hope that everything turns out smoothly for me. I cannot believe a 38' camper just wonders off. They believe at this point that it has been stolen. I have to give credit to Primetime for calling and letting me know what was going on rather than just sit on it hoping it would resolve itself.
I have had my camper back to the factory to fix a few minor items since I live close, every time all personal items had to be removed and they said that they were not liable because the trailers are kept unlocked on their lots. So they may replace the camper, but not the personal items. Just an FYI

I have never owned a 5ver so I am just going by what I have read.
I bought a 2015 3500 just for the cargo capacity, the new 2500 was 2285 and the 3500 was 3845, it was a no brainer since the pin weight is 2300.

Oine was between the front and rear driver side doors all the way at the bottom, I had to open both doors to see it.

Like others have said it's at the bottom of the "B" column (I think it's called that) facing outward not into the jam. I had the same issue trying to find mine because it blended in with the truck color. You'll see it easier if you open the drivers door, back up a little and look down at the bottom right side of the drivers door frame.

I spent a week on here last spring being laughed at by the folks helping me with weight discussions to find it on my 2500. I swore it didn't exist. When I found it, I felt sheepish to say the least.

But finding it made me trade for dually just for carrying capacity. With anything less, it would have been a constant battle of loading issues, etc. With it, I just tow. I don't even know what my pin weight is. I'd like to know, but it isn't going to matter..I'm not getting a 4500!!! LOL

X2 - Same here. Ended up with the 3500 you see in my signature. Best decision ever to eliminate most concern on weight and increase more 5er model options to select.
