If you don't mind me asking how much you paid? My in-laws are seriously thinking about upgrading to a diesel from a gasser. They have a 08 F-150 60th Anniversary and don't feel safe trying to tow a 5W.

Oh, you are going to love that truck. It pulls like a dream. I'm not one to believe much in the saying "night and day difference", but this is about as close as it comes. My truck pulls way better than my 6.4L that I traded. It really does great.
Ron...After the wheeling and dealing, I got my XLT (with quite a few upgrades) for around $42,000. The only things I really miss are the dual zone automatic climate control, and the backup sensors. I can add the backup sensors, but I'm going to have to do without the dual zone climate control.

Congratulations on the new truck. You've got 2 weeks to break it in prior to towing. I believe that Ford recommends a minimum of 500 miles prior to towing.
Ed, I hear what you're saying. I've got all the bells and whistles on our Lariat...it'strange how those options you've never had before now become requirements.

Thanks, I'll pass that along to my in-laws. Congrats on the new truck by the way and good luck with and happy camping.

Thats a heck of a deal. Ford was out in force at a boat show I went to a couple weeks ago. Those trucks were stickered at $60k+.

Yep. My '08 Lariat was nice. I wasn't overly impressed with the leather, my wife even less so. But that dual zone auto climate control was just plain nice. Set it and forget it. I love my XLT now, and the premium cloth seats are just fine. I put in a Sirius module so I get Sirius satellite via the stock radio that has the Sync (that way I don't lose any of that). And I will put in the reverse sensors. Then I think I'll be pretty well set. But I'll still miss that dual zone auto climate control!

I've had my 2012 f350 Lariat 4X4 for two weeks now. Rides very nicely for a one ton, and the turning radius is very impresive. Haven't pulled the trailer yet but this truck seems to have much more power than my 2004 duramax diesel.
Check out some of the diesel forums. Maintenance is key to these trucks. Good luck with your new ride.

Wow, are you sure they knew what they were selling. I was totally waiting to here something near 60K.

My is a F-250 XLT4x4 with the FX4 package and it has the premium XLT package which gets you just about every upgrade you can get on an XLT. Capt chairs, LCD scren deal in the dash, all kinds us stuff. I paid $42,400 for it. Bought it in Weatherford TX (right outside Ft Worth) They had $13,000 off MSRP. I'll post a pic in a minute.

We picked up a 2012 this weekend - F350 SRW CC 4x4 Lariat and could only get about 10k off the sticker. However, the dealer was generous on my trade - well above Kelly BB excellent value. Maintenance is key. It seems like geographic location can influence price.

QFT...
What dealer was it? $28k is certainly worth the drive out from CA..
Heck, I could turn that into a 6 month unpaid vacation and still come out ahead!
