replacement of slide seals

Has anyone had to replace the slide seals on a Crusader? My exterior seal on the dinette slide is torn and I ordered the part from the dealer thinking I could replace it myself. The dealer mentioned the entire slide needs to be removed to replace this seal. Just wondering if anyone else has attempted this or if indeed I need to have the dealer install. I hate to have to bring it to the dealer, I don't always feel confident in their work from past experience. Then again, I don't feel any confidence in myself in removing a slide!

One of our slide wiper seals was wrinkled from the factory. Dealer replaced it, they said instead of removing the slide they "hyper extended it' whatever that means.
