Tracer 2800rld problems

Help. Before I drive 80 miles to the dealer maybe you guys can help. Our porch light keeps burning out after only 3 or 4 hours, also when not hooked up to shore power our slide will not extend and we have no power at all using the battery. It has been charged up. But stragely the power tongue jack will work, but nothing else. It is 2012 model and under warranty but i'm hoping for a simple solution. Rv Guy is welcome to help. thanks Bob

Do you have a multimeter?

The battery when charged should be around 12.8V DC. If you measure across the battery when the shore power is plugged in, it should be between 13.5 and 14V DC.

Do I understand that none of the 12V works unless the shore power is plugged in except the tongue jack?

Check for a blown in-line fuse off the battery. I think the tongue jack would be wired separately to the battery and that's why it's still working.

I too think the problem is in the battery area. Make sure connections are CLEAN and tight. Test that battery shows 12.6-12.8 volts on a voltmeter. If it is, find out why the power is not flowing out of the battery into the circuits. A fuse, circuit breaker, or bad connection will likely be found. Your porch light is burning out because the D/C convertor is putting out more voltage than the light is designed to operate at. This is because it is apparently not being "filtered" by the battery. Fix the battery power issue and all will be normal.

I think you're getting alot of good advice from other owners, but if you'd like to have our folks trouble-shoot with you, contact our Customer Service department at:

They'd be glad to help.

Good luck.

There might be a breaker that needs resetting along the frame where the battery power goes back into the trailer. There was on my 08 Flagstaff, don't know about our new 12 8528RKWS, will have to check it out tomorrow.

Thanks rv guy. Your engineers called ME! Problem is solved, it was my stupidity, not theirs.
