Watched it from our DVR so I could zip through commercials. Was a good show and have stayed the KOA in Santa Paula, CA, Ventura Ranch KOA. It is in the segment where the CEO rode the zipline.

That 1 guy that had them deliver 4 bags of ice to his site IMO is a TOTAL LAZY SLUG. Anyone who's too lazy to go get his own ice is just unbelievable!!!!!!!!

It ended up being an infomercial for KOA high end and flagship campgrounds. MOST KOA camps are run of the mill basic campgrounds with worn out and somewhat dirty bathrooms. I'm sure each campground owner has to pay for their own upgrades to grounds, ammenities, reservations software, etc. Most owners reinvest just the minimum to keep their campground going. Wonder how many years each franchise goes between inspections from corporate.

A dirty little secret about camgrounds is homeless living in them via worn out RV or tents. Multiple tents in one tent spot and they stay there for weeks. Move on when it gets cold or the migrant job they have ends. I traveled cross country via motorcycle 6 years ago and saw lots of this situation. Campground owners need the money so they allow it.

The KOA boss declined to mention or show ANY of that situation.

Gheesh. I thought that Undercover Boss looked like a creepy, geeky Stephen King. I woulda been fired on the spot giving th 'new' guy all the s**tty jobs, riding his azz, making him sweat and getting his hands dirty.

delivery to the campsite is offered at KOAs I've been to. I can't carry 4 bags of ice or bundles of wood I would have to drive up to the office to get it so why not get my exercise walking up to the office and have them deliver it.

I usually try to avoid the KOAs. Around here, they have what we call, "campground Nazis". God forbid your kids are playing while it's still light out (3&5yr old, 8:30pm), your lawn chairs are not positioned in a neat symetrical order (was told to arrange chairs more neatly), lights out at 10pm (was told to move inside camper and turn out all outside lighting). The last straw came when the host came at and yelled at my son, who was playing under our awning (we were inside preparing dinner), for not being supervised. While this was just one particular KOA, we've had similar instances at others. I am a very respectable, considerate, and hospitable camper, just don't mess with my kids.

BTW, when the deputy finally left, he commended me for showing great restraint and told the owners maybe they should review their policies.

We camp at a local campground that delivers all ice/firewood to your campsite. It cuts down on car/truck traffic and the kids that deliver will actually fill your coolers and stack your wood for you. They always make good tips.

I thought the show was interesting. Corporate is making some bucks, never seen any other undercover bosses give out as much money as last night.
- Never stayed in any Koas, they seemed to cost about twice as much as state, city and corp parks.

It seems every show is trying to out do the last with how much money they give out.

I don't usually camp at KOA's, but the few times I have, I've had no trouble and wouldn't hesitate to try one again.

The KOA's along the East Coast we've found are pretty decent campgrounds. We've stayed in a few from Maine to Florida. True, you do pay a bit more, but most have very clean facilities and a strict business code to maintain. I'd use them again.

I watched the show as well.....kinda getting old for me. The CEO's just give handouts to the few employees they meet and screw the rest of the organization. I can't stand the end of this show anymore....socialism at it's best.

We have stayed at KOA's all over the country. Some are very basic and some are over board with more things than a theme park. We like to take our grandchildren to KOA's, because they generally have a pool and play area for the kids.

We have only stayed in two KOA's so far (both in South Dakota) mid week and just driving through. Both were immaculate and not very crowded. That would be my only complaint. Very few campers but all directed to the same general area. We have reservations at a couple this coming season and again, just driving through. These will be on a weekend so the crowds may be bigger. We'll see how it goes.

That reminds me of a private CG we was at by Brainerd Minn, Crow Wing CG, the owner there runs around in his golf cart just looking for something to yelll at you about and strict as hell, about visitors coming in-- we won't be back there. You should be able to go to a CG to enjoy yourself and not have to worry about a sheriff coming around to harass you.

We have stayed at over a dozen KOA from Freeport, ME to Ft Myers, FL. There were a couple that could use some upgrades but most were very well maintained. They are usually convenient to the major highways and we find them ideal for one night when just passing thru. Guess we are lucky that in our 3-yr (386 nights) camping we have not encountered any rude CG staff and no one yelling at us for rule infractions. Just no reason for that behavior.

While the campground is clean the KOA in Pomona CA doesn't look anything like the other California ones they showed.
