From the email that Bob distributed on Sept 5: "We’ll be starting our adventure on Sunday, September 30, at Trailer Village RV Park, located in the Grand Canyon Village on the South Rim.* Check-in time is noon.* We suggest coming north from I-40 through Williams, AZ as the easiest way to get into Grand Canyon National Park."

See you there [emoji196]

the latest weather forecast is saying rain monday through wednesday. something about the remnants of pacific hurricane Rita coming ashore. they are saying we will get a couple inches where we live. since the grand canyon is higher it may get a bit more. but those of us that live here will take all the rain we can get. our local air has been full of smoke for the last couple of days due to controlled burns out in the national forest.
We stayed at Meteor Crater RV Park on Thursday, and could see a lot of the smoke and haze off to the west from the controlled burns. The made for a pretty impressive sunset. Last night and tonight we're in Williams at the Grand Canyon Railway & Hotel RV Park. Today the sky was an incredibly clear and beautiful blue, with a small amount of smoke to the south late in the afternoon.

I'm sorry, RJ, I must have missed that. There's been a lot of static on the forums recently.

After noon, preferably after 1:00. Remember that this part of AZ does not use daylight saving time, so the time might be an hour earlier than you'd think if you're just coming into the area.

we couldn't stand it any longer so we left a day early. we are at williams az at the railside rv park. no part of arizona observes daylight savings time. it is the same time in arizona as the pacific states and you gain an hour as you enter arizona from the east. yes there is smoke in the air from a controlled burn. today was an exceptionally beautiful day.

Damp Tuesday afternoon. We are going to Tusayan for buffet supper if anyone would like to join. Catch blue bus at campground entrance at 4:30 to village center. Then transfer to purple bus into town.

Got into Gallup early enough that I had time to make a run up to Window Rock AZ. I wanted to visit the memorial to the Navajo Code Talkers of WWII. The code talkers played a major part in the USA battle successes in the Pacific. The Japanese were unable to translate the messages the code talkers sent from shore to the supporting naval and air forces. Here's a pic of the memorial with Window Rock in the background and the plaque on the memorial.

A big thank you to Bob and Cindy for arranging a fantastic FROG trip! Everything went smoothly and Cindy kept us organized and on track. Saw fantastic sites and the balloon fiesta was awesome with hundred plus balloons.
Met great folks and made new friends.
We arrived home Tuesday night.
Safe travels to everyone.
Until we meet again.
Pat and Shelley
