Suggestion. Everyone interested in attending rally registers within 24 hours from a announced date then assigned a number.A lottery style drawing then held ,and winners notified.Failure to acknowledge and accept, place deposit results in loss of number .Alternative numbers are then drawn. Give winning numbers 72 hours to accept /place deposit. JUST A THOUGHT.

That might work for a future year. My friend and I got our spots already and want nothing to do with a lottery this year.

One hazard of the lottery is that we go to this rally every year together. If one of us won the lottery, and the other did not, neither would go, reducing our chances of ďwinningĒ.

I think the present system is good. Except for this year, when the slots were limited to about 1/6th of prior years, the last few years have not filled, so there really isnít a problem to solve.

Worthwhile concept, though. I am just not a fan.

Although the lottery looks good at first glance, it has issues too. Complaints of not received emails or calls would be a problem. The resulting increase in work to administer the system is also an issue. The current system seems to work well enough. I have missed out on previous rallys due to not making the cut but I just keep trying. I also like knowing immediately that I am going or not. I can then chose to wait list or plan other activities.

Seeing in the FAQ that it advises to bring 40 feet of water line, sewer hose and 30 or 50 amp power cord. Question- can I join 2 cords of the same amps together or will it require some other type of extension cord?

You should not need the long length water hose as everyone will have full hookups this year. I think the power pedistel is wired for either 30 or 50 amp. Later RJD

Yes, you can. I have a 30-foot 50-amp extension cord with molded plugs that I bought from Amazon. I use it at home when we hook the car up the night before because the built-in cord will no longer reach the outlet. It was $110.

Every FHU site at the fairgrounds has the power and water connections and the sewer drop at the left REAR corner of the site, so if your utilities are near the front (or even near the center) of your RV, plan accordingly. Also, be sure to bring a "Y" for your water hose as some of the sites share a single water spigot for two back-to-back sites.

Also, if you have 30 amp service in your trailer, it would be a good idea to bring a 50 amp male to 30 amp female "dog bone". Some of the sites have both 30 and 50 amp connections, but some have only 50 amp. I can't recall if there are any that are 30 amp only, but I don't think so.

Iím going to Shipshewana about a week before the rally, sweet corn Charlie corn. Plus Rise n Roll. We are staying at the flea market. I made a boo boo on the camper not long ago and I have to get that fixed. I always enjoy the Goshen area. I was just up there in April or May. Amish Family RV needs to see my Cedar Creek about twice a year. The first time I had ever slept on the fold out couch and I didnít push the couch back to the wall the next morning. I said oh well it will give Orvan something to do. Itís not the first boo boo

You can, no problem at all! The FHU sites are about 40 ft from mid trailer. I had to use a extension one year.
