You would be hard pressed to find the type of "Floral and Art displays" that is at the "Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds"! Voted one of the TOP Fairs! The Flower Crew are all Volunteers and they Work HARD all year long! The Fair even has it's own Museum! Youroo!!

I usually wait until after registration to start doing notifications so that I know who got a spot.

Did you already post for sending in an email to volunteer yet?

I feel something building all right, but I think it was from dinner last night at that new Mexican-Jewish fusion restaurant, Casa Hidasa...

How many days till the rally & is there going to be a count down? Hope us old folks can stay awake to register, nothing worse than falling asleep half way through registering!

ticket

First, what is a golden ticket? What can I expect if I happen to be one who gets a response from my email to register? Will I need to pay fees at that time and also when do I sign up for tours? This will be our first attempt at a Goshen rally and have no idea what to expect in the way of getting signed up.. Thanks to all repliers.

See highlighted answers.

I have no idea what a Golden Ticket is.

Tbonz,

A "golden ticket" is Herk's term for being one of the lucky 800 or so who get registered for the Goshen FROG International Rally (and I'm sure it stems from American Idol's practice of handing out "golden tickets" to the lucky winners who get to move on to Hollywood.)

When FROG Bob announces that registration for the rally is open, he will provide a link to a site where you will register. Sending an email to Bob or anybody else to try to register for the rally will not work.

Once you get on the secure registration site via the link provided, you will register for the rally, including how many will be in your RV, and you will be charged accordingly: RV with 1 person or RV with 2 people; there will be an additional charge for extra people in your RV (to cover meals, etc.). There will also be a section to sign up for seats on the optional tours (tours are fully described, so you know what you are signing up for.) (Hint: IMHO, the Amish brown-bag tour is the best tour, and generally sells out quickly, but all of them are very good.)

The third and final section of the registration site is for payment. The system will calculate what you have "purchased" (i.e. RV with 2 persons + 1 additional person + 3 seats on the Amish Brown Bag tour = $xxx.xx total charge. You will pay for registration and tours at that time, with a major credit card. It is a secure site, so you don't have to worry that your card info is safe.

Once you have submitted your payment, you will get a receipt, showing everything you just "bought".

The only email that you need to send is if you wish to volunteer to work at the rally. If so, AFTER YOU HAVE GOTTEN REGISTERED, you would send an email to frog@forestriverinc.com with the word "Volunteer" in the subject line. In the body of the email, indicate what job(s) you are volunteering for. Bob will compile a list of volunteers from those submitting emails, and notify all the people chosen to fill volunteer slots sometime in the spring or early summer. Check what I wrote about volunteering in post # 213 of this thread.

Hope this answers all of your questions.

Mike

I am also wondering if a factory tour can be had at any time of the year? Not just rally time.

As far as I know, factory tours can be arranged... but they would have to be arranged through the factory (or at least a manufacturing line rep). They just wouldn't be arranged by the FROG office as they are during a rally.

In Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, finders of one of the five Golden Tickets hidden in Wonka Bars around the world were allowed to visit the magical and secretive chocolate factory and meet Mr. Willy Wonka himself.

We have commandeered the term to refer to those who go online and manage to register for a spot at the FROG Rally before it becomes filled.

Tbonz, registration is conducted online and will open in early April. We'll announce the exact date and time well in advance.

Spots at the rally and seats on the area tours are sold on a "first come, first served" basis. If you get online and reserve tickets, you'll pay online and get an immediate confirmation.

Signups for factory tours, for which there is no charge, are conducted once we get to Goshen.

You know, out of the 5 years I have been going, I have not had time to go to the museum, maybe I will make it a point to go this year!
