Unfortunately, we've not gotten into that for several reasons, including having to staff all gates, set up various "a la carte" options, etc. The FMCA Rally doesn't include meals, free plant or other tours, and other components that we have. The space limits on meal seating, just as an example, really make it impossible to offer "pick and choose" options.

How about if we try to register on the 17th and can't get in?

Then there’s always next year. Bob also maintains a standby list in case people back out. Some book, but then can’t make it so there’s still a shot.

Keep in mind that, while I can't predict what will happen this time, the sites filled in 21 hours last year. That means that if you were at work when registration opened, you could work the rest of the day, go home, change clothes, mow the grass, have dinner, watch TV for a while, and then still have about 12 hours to log in and get a site.

A lot of the tours filled really fast, but sites were available until about 9:00 the next morning. The registration site will handle a virtually unlimited number of users at one time, so you won't get "locked out."

Once you log on and select tickets, they're held for you for 30 minutes to give you way more than enough time to complete registration. (Test times were well under 10 minutes). If you log off, or don't complete registration in 30 minutes, the tickets are returned to inventory.

If you try to get a site on the first day, I expect, but can't guarantee, that you'll get one.

Computer is Warming Up

Turned the computer on this evening. The vacuum tubes are starting to glow. Should be warmed and ready to go in 40 hours or so. Now, gotta dig and find that 300 baud modem.

The only pool I remember on the fairgrounds was the one we bought at Walmart for $1.39. Kids loved splashing in that pool, but I don’t recommend “jumping” in it.

That vintage would have used a 110 baud teletype.

The url FrogRally.com is now pointed to the 2018 Registration site. You can see the site, but it's not active.

It will go active at exactly noon Tuesday EDT. Until then, PLEASE don't keep trying and trying to get to the site. Last year a lot of people did that and filled up their cache, and were unable to get in without rebooting their computers when it opened.

If anything, I'd consider taking a quick look at the site in advance so that you can see how it looks, and reading the notes at the top.

Just below the black bar that says "TICKETS," where it currently says "Event is not active at this moment," is where you'll select tickets for attendance and for tours starting at noon.

Have fun!
