A pending charge is just that, pending. Does not mean it will be finalized. For instance, it could be pending the batch close. Could also be two attempts were made to verify funds, but only one will be closed/used.

No need to worry about pending entries unless they are clear fraud, and even then, they are "nothing" until finalized... and your card issuer has no power to do anything until finalized.

I would think if you call your credit card company and told them one was a mistake they would cancel one.

Card issuer could have refused the auth (the industry term used for the item most call pending), but if the auth is approved, the merchant has control over the item (meaning a hold on the value) until settled, voided, or times out.

The other time this causes card users attention is when a settled amount (the actual charged amount) is less than the auth, and they have to wait for the difference to be released by the card issuer.

I even get folks who think an AVS (address verification) entry, followed by an auth means I have charged twice... Sometimes I do a manual AVS if the card info is sketchy looking.

Like this issue (large count, short time, amount, card not present) the bulk of my income comes in just two months, so I have to remind my processor of my activity, each year, to lessen the chance of blockage. The block items are not published, and can vary by account. Transactions per some time frame, total dollar amount per time frame, whatever the processor decides is safer for them (they are not protecting the merchant.... or even the card holder!).

SITE TEAM NOTE AND COMMENT:

The site team is having to work overtime on this one thread, and am not sure we are going to keep devoting resources to it. Closure may be the best thing. We are cleaning up argumentative/baiting/insulting posts that are directly against the site guidelines.

Now for the comment. The majority consensus seems to be that the main point of the International Rally is for the experience of meeting/making friends of fellow like minded Forest River owners.

So, "why" are some using the forums to make sure those friendships cannot occur at the Rally with sniping/baiting/name calling here? It appears to be extremely counterproductive to the main goal and some are certainly not practicing what they are preaching.

It's also counterproductive to the forums main goal, which is similar and at the very top of the site guidelines.

Be Courteous! Our philosophy is that we want The Forest River Forums to be an online reflection of the RV'ing community. Treat each other with respect just as you would around a campfire.

We ask that everyone takes a little step back and do some self reflection, and hopefully won't burn the bridge before they can cross it into Goshen in August.

Getting back to the subject, I see my card still says pending, are any of you nice people that are in the same holding pattern as me starting to get that moved to an actual charge?
Its just question.

I think you're still safe Donald. I'm sure Bob was up late into the night going over all the entries. If he had to do approval on each one manually and then sort through multiple entries and make sure they are put into the order of which they were entered so that tours are filled accordingly... Well, you see the task ahead of him.

If your DW reads this you may be marrying that nineteen year old sooner than you think.

My credit card expenditures always show as PENDING for 2-3 days until they book/close. This morning, my oldest PENDING charge was for gasoline on 4/14/18.

Same here. That's good enough for me. The root of my anxiety was not knowing if the reservation was 'logged' with the system or not.

I figure that if I see a charge on my CC, then I'm in the system. Everything else can be sorted out later.

I talked to Bob late yesterday on an unrelated matter and he is working with the credit card processing company and the shopping cart people to get this resolved.

Anytime more than one entity is involved, you are going to have systemic drag as the two companies point fingers at each other trying to get someone else to "do the work".

Eventually, one will actually accept the task of actually fixing the problem. I am sure we will get a fix today and Bob will let us know the solution and when the system will come back up for the remaining sites.

Once he gets the shopping cart fixed, he still has to parse the hundreds of transactions made before the site came down to eliminate duplicates, both in families and billings, to determine how many sites actually remain and finallize credit card transactions (which will generate the emailed invoices).
