Eventually, one will actually accept the task of actually fixing the problem. I am sure we will get a fix today and Bob will let us know the solution and when the system will come back up for the remaining sites.
Once he gets the shopping cart fixed, he still has to parse the hundreds of transactions made before the site came down to eliminate duplicates, both in families and billings, to determine how many sites actually remain and finallize credit card transactions (which will generate the emailed invoices).
Herk

Thanks Herk I really don't envy Bob on this task, it just shows that it doesn't matter how much planning you put in things can and do still go awry.

I want to add the site team to the list of folks who are under paid - especially since I think they are doing the work for free!!!!

Great job folks! RVing would be a lot harder without the value you provide.

I agree, just a lot of extra work for him and his team. Just saw on tv that the IRS had the same problem yesterday had to extend the filing date to today, now that would be a nightmare, but they don't have Bob we do.

Remember, "his team" consists of Bob and Cindy. Yeah, they are working with people at both the credit card processors and Event Bee, but if Bob is doing that, it only leaves Cindy to answer phone calls, respond to emails (assuming the inbox isn't full and not accepting any more) and, oh, yeah, plan a rally for 1,600 people.

ManlyMan, you've got one too many people sitting around the table!

Registration update 4/18 11:55 am

Here’s where we are

We’ve been working with EventBee, and they have determined that they have the data for the transactions that did not receive confirmations yesterday.

We have confirmed transaction by transaction that the list of orders that EventBee is holding match exactly the list of transactions that were blocked by the credit card processor. We’ve reviewed them with EventBee and will be instructing them to release confirmations in the order that the transactions were received.

Here’s how and why the backlog occurred

We learned yesterday (the hard way) that our credit card processor has a filter on its system to detect extraordinarily heavy activity from a single site. We had over 500 transactions in less than an hour after registration opened (meaning that we were on track to sell out in somewhere between an hour and a half to two hours).

We exceeded the threshold and triggered the filter to shut down processing so that the site could determine, through manual approval from us, whether the transactions were legitimate, or whether the site was being spammed or hacked. We reviewed the situation with them, had the filter removed, and had the transactions approved.

Once the filter was lifted, people were able to get in and start placing orders and having them filled, while confirmations had not yet been sent. Seeing that, I made a decision to shut down the registration site to be sure that people weren’t able to purchase tickets that had been paid for but not yet confirmed. We wanted to be sure that sites weren’t double booked.

Here’s what it means

• IF YOU ORDERED A SITE AT THE FROG RALLY, YOU WILL HAVE A SITE. I shut down registrations yesterday to ensure that, and it is still shut down right now.
• If you went in and created a second (or a third and in at least one case a fourth) transaction, those will be processed. We’ll contact you to see which transaction(s) should be cancelled / refunded.
• If you ordered tours, we BELIEVE that they are intact, but if someone got in during the brief period before I shut down the site, it’s POSSIBLE that some tours might be affected. We’ll review these individually and contact you if we see any issues.

Once the dust settles, we'll announce when registration will re-open for approximately 200 remaining sites.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. We’ll keep you posted.

Randy, thank you, but maybe you should change the tag line in your signature now that the question has been answered.

How about, “Hold my beer and watch this.”
Which usually entails a trip to the emergency room.

Yo should be good. My bank takes a couple of days to change from "pending" status for most things.

This means A) you were charged and thus B) you are registered.

I'm sure in a day or two, all the knots will be untied.

I was thinking maybe, "So, aside from that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play?"

Many years ago, I gave up asking "What else is gonna go wrong" because I found out that I really, really didn't want to know.

Now I look and say, "If this is the worst thing to happen to me today, I'm having a great day"

It's what makes me the calm, happy, peaceful person you all came to know and love.

When I was employed, many years ago, I always told my boss, if you don’t like this speed, I know you won’t like the next.
