Just look at the title of this thread for the date and yes, the rally is less than a month away.

I hope so. These covert operations are wearing me out. [emoji102]. Plus, that’s a lot of cable to travel 2,000 miles with. They didn’t let me

Must see things (other than Tiki Hut and Zip Line)

My wife and I aren't the tour bus trip kind, we prefer to get out on our own. Having said that, this is our first time to the rally and I'm trying to nail down some must see items while we are out there. Can some of you veterans make some recommendations? Just reading this thread I know the Tiki hut and zip line are must see and the Amish bakery. What else?

Thanks for any tips you can provide.

See if you can find anything interesting here:

EDIT: That may not help enough... so you'll need to watch for others to answer your questions.

Just a drive out thru the country side is worth an afternoon. The Amish flowers and gardens are beautiful. Should see some horses working in the field (not as many as just a few year ago) . Many Amish now work in the RV factories.

The Der Essenhaus restaurant in Middlebury is great. As you stated Rise’n Roll Bakery (just east Of Middlebury on HWY 20). In Shipshewana the Blue Gate Restaurant.

In Shipshewana on Tuesday & Wednesday there is a large flee market & auction. Lots of vegetables, flowers and food items for sale.

If you go to the visitor center in Shipshewana (west side of road across from big red barn at flea market) they have many tours you can take. You can get a guide to ride in your vehicle and give you a county tour. They also have a audio tour that they will rent to you. The visitors center has maps to many Amish attractions-cheese factory, Amish country’s stores, buggy builder, furniture factory, quilt maker. One street East of HWY 5 in Shipshewana each House is a store front. Big store (Davis Mercantile building) at North end is a four story building with several stores in it. It is a beautiful building inside. (A must see). It has an antique operating calliope on the fourth floor.

The RV Hall Of Fame Museum is on the N/E side of Elkhart. It is well worth couple hours to half a day. Several vintage RV’s . Lots of RV factories will allow tours. Just have to call the factories to see if they allow and their times.

And that would probably ensure that we're already as old as we'll ever get.

Thanks for any tips you can provide.

With kids in tow, we’re also not ones to subject the rest of the tour bus to our little terrors.

Here’s some of the activities we’ve enjoyed when at the rally:

- Walmart/Meijer shopping
- Walk the streets of Downtown Goshen. There’s usually a couple of coupons for things like discounts on ice cream at one of the parlours or something like that.
- We’ll take a run into Middlebury and stop by the Cheese House. On the way back we stop at Fork’s country store and between the two pick up enough for a picnic. Right across the street from Fork’s is a park where we can picnic and let the kids run around a bit
- There’s an old school movie theatre in town that we’ll take in a matinee or two for a reasonable price
- Goshen has a Superhero Museum.
- Let the kids bike around the grounds while taking the dogs for a walk. There’s a nice stretch of tree lined walkway towards the race track that the kids can do loops on while we leisurely stroll with the dogs
- We’ve done the factory tours. Both the official FROG ones, as well as impromptu ones by visiting the factory to tour a particular model we’re interested in (call first for the later).
- touring the sample RVs on site at the rally
- daily checkins at the Vendor Building for door prizes
- Availing ourselves of the Ice Cream Social

And the number one thing we do:

- Catching up with old FROG friends and making new ones.
