Thanks Youroo! Do you recall how long the class they took was; 1-hr, 2 or 3? Is it better to have had 'some' experience or ok to have had none (no bad habits to unlearn...)?

Looks like you have a trip of about 350 miles? I'd think that is do-able in one day. Depends on when you are able to leave and how you are feeling. Can always plan to leave a day early and find a nice park "on the way". Possibly overnight at a Cracker Barrel and have breakfast before leaving....

Have to say I have enjoyed reading through the post but I have one question. Is there an opportunity to drop in for one day? We are having our rig worked on and will be picking it up on the 4th and staying in the area until the 8th.
Thanks

When are you leaving? We are leaving Harrisburg area around noon on the Friday before the rally. Plan to pull in on Saturday. We are looking at stopping around the Youngstown or Akron area. We may boondock Depending on how hot it is that day.

We are from Elkton, MD and we stop at:
Streetsboro / Cleveland SE KOA
Open May 1 - October 15
Reserve: 800-562-0804
Info: 330-650-2552
Email
187 State Route 303
Streetsboro, OH 44241-5245

Just before the campground, there are a set of RR tracks, go very slow over these as it will do damage to the axles.

If you are going to be on the Ohio Turnpike, they have RV parking spots at several rest areas. All have 30A service and there is a dump station. $ 20 bucks for the night. We stayed in one last year. Go to the turnpikes website and you can see which rest areas have them Eats and West bound.

2014 Goshen Post

I was cleaning up and deleting some of my old subscriptions this morning and came across this Gem fro the 2014 Rally.

Random talk and thoughts at goshen
I thought I would share my observations from the past 10 days or so while travelling to staying at and leaving, Goashen. I didn't know what to expect when we got there. I was determined not to worry about a thing, just go with the flow and see what happens. After all, most people with RV's and very nice and pretty friendly. Now, I did know what to expect while travelling. Every year I say " I am never staying at a KOA again!" We always get stuck with a crappy site. Well, a few years ago we stayed at a KOA and I was familiar with the location and it was about the halfway mark from Home to Goshen. Reservation made..........arrival after a 440 mile trip. They got me again. The guy leads us to our site. I pull in and say, a little tight huh? He says, Nah its not that bad, but you might want to talk to your neighbors when they get back cause they are hooked up to your sewer. Yah. I twll him " I'm tired and we are getting up early tomorrow to leave this place. Thanks, have a good night."

The second day of travel was uneventful, stayed at a Ramada and left the rig plugged in outside. We arrived in Goshen around 11:00 AM on Sunday. We get escorted to our site and get ready to get ready. This is where I realize I have made my first major error. Apparently, it is against the law to sell beer on Sunday in Indiana. All I have is a case of Micro Brew for the beer tasting night. Should I? Well, the rules said two six packs and you have a Growler and four six packs.

OK so on to the point of random talk and thoughts at Goshen. Here are some of the things that I observed and/or heard:

Everyone that passed by: Hello, How are you.
Everyone I passed by: Hi, I'm Steve!
I know dinner is at 5:30 but if we get in line at 4:30, we won't have to stand in line as long.
Honey, should I wear a golf shirt or my hawaiian shirt
I wonder if they sell ice
Did anyone leave a crock pot behind? How about a crock pot cover? Anyone?
Look at that guys bike, the tires are really small and he is so tall.
If we leave our chairs right here in what appears to be the front, nobody will put there chairs in front of us because there is no shade there.
Lets go look at the new RV's. Can we get a new one when we get home?
Where is the Berkshire salesman? He was just here a few minutes ago.
Can you look around and see if there are any more EZ-UPS we can bring over here?
They don't make beer in Kentucky, so I brought this!
What movie is playing at the Tiki Hut tonight?
Hey Honey! Do these sandals look OK with black socks?
Are we going the right way?
The service techs are outstanding!
Sign this flag and come back next year!
You live 30 minutes away and you're sleeping here for 6 nights?
The Factory tour was great!
I am a Forest River customer for life
Are you coming back next year?
Honey, there is no way that the service techs are going to help us get your dentures out of the black tank.
The meals were great.

So on the way home, we had a blow-out in Ohio. We limped off the highway and changed the tire. That was fun. We decided to just keep on driving, sleep in a rest area and try to make it home by Sunday.

That's the first time we took our Fifth Wheel on the road and slept in our truck.

See you next year!

Bill,

We are staying overnight at Countryside Campgrounds just east of Akron on a lake. 303-628-1212

Family Camping in Ohio | Mogadore Reservoir Campground, Rentals & Cabins

We never stayed there before but will post a review here the end of the month since we are going west early and camp close by.

If you are going to Streetsboro KOA, WATCH OUT FOR THAT DESTROYER OF CAMPERS AXLES railroad crossing just after a small hill. I NEVER remember it and hit it too fast 2 years ago on our way home and broke my left rear torsion axle.

Oakman, you got off light with only a $5K bill. What the EPA has done to the diesel is criminal. Love the power, but can't justify spending the initial diesel hit, plus all those maintenance dollars ($100 oil changes) and normally, more for fuel; if there is anyway a gasser will work. Many of us (me!) bought into the idea of getting a diesel because we have heard they will run a half a million miles... BS!... not anymore. And, don't any of you brainwashed Ford or Chevy guys tell me, "oh, its a Dodge what do you suspect" because they are all pretty much crapola. IMO, if you need a diesel to tow what you already own, find a good used 5.9L Cummins or a 7.3L Ford. I passed on a nice 5.9 because I wanted the more powerful 6.7 in 2012, big mistake.
