Double darn! I didn't get the call to serve either. But I guess it's good to know we're with a crowd where there are a lot of good volunteers.

There will still be a lot of volunteer opportunities once you get in and get registered. One of the biggest needs is shuttle cart drivers during the week of the rally - those big 10 passenger golf carts that transport people all over the fairgrounds. When you check in at registration and get your badges, etc, there will be somebody there "recruiting" shuttle cart drivers.

Just a word here.
If you don't know how to back up your rig; PLEASE practice before you come.
The parking crew is NOT ALLOWED to back your rig in for you.
The crew needs to park almost rig a minute to get everyone parked.
Follow the crew's directions and please be patient as not every volunteer team member is a tractor trailer driver.
I guess it should go without saying, but if you can't back your own trailer, being a volunteer for parking crew might be stressful for you. You will learn but you will get an earful I am sure.

We sent invitations to a total of 176 people last night around 7:00, asking them to assist with the parking and registration operations. There were a LOT more volunteers than that, and we appreciate everyone who offered to help.
With that in mind, if you did not receive a request to be on the parking or registration team, I hope that you'll still plan to be a part of the volunteer team during the event. We'll still have a big need for people to drive taxi shuttles (golf carts), to help in the Rally Office, to help get people on the right buses for area and factory tours, and more.
Thanks to everyone who pitches in to make the FROG Rally a big success.
(I just got an e-mail message showing that Mike beat me to the punch on this, but I'll post it anyway.)

There will also be a need for volunteers to man the FROG OFFICE - a booth in the vendor building where, among other things, unneeded tour tickets can be bought and sold, where information about factory tours can be found, and where lost-and-found is located. The FROG OFFICE is open during the time that the vendor buildings are open. Interested in volunteering? Sign up at registration when you pick up your rally packet and badges.

Voice of experience, Lou?
When you run into Herk (Lou) at the FROG Rally, all of you need to ask him about his "cone method" of parking people. It involves either:
a) setting out cones and having the person back up next to them nice and straight (the preferred scenario), or
b) throwing up his hands, moving the cones next to the unit, and saying, "Look, just right!" (the exasperation method).

Last year, I had to walk alongside a few drivers and tell them which way to turn their wheel. Practicing in a parking lot before hand is good advice!

Took a lot of trail and error for Rennie and the crew to perfect the three cone parking method.
I carry three small ones in the camper now to help with really tight woodland campsites and to block the road while I back into my neighborhood driveway.
You won't believe the number of folks who can't wait a single minute to get into the drive. As soon as they see they can fit, they will shoot in front of me while I am straightening my wheels to pull forward.
