If you all are passing by Tehachapi on your way to Calico Ghost town and need to gas up or get food, use Love's truck stop right at the edge of town, this is a rv friendly gas station and includes a dump station.

Here is the address: 2000 East Tehachapi Blvd., Hwy 58 Exit 151, Tehachapi, CA 93561.

McDonalds and Subway is part of that store as well.

Thanks Tim and Wendy - we are hoping to make it a fun time for all. Remember, we get group discounts on the attractions and you can go when you want. Trying to close the deal on reserving the nighttime ghost tour for us all on Saturday. Group breakfast on Saturday morning and pot luck Saturday night. Maybe a pot luck on a favorite adult beverage? I have mine planned out but if Iggy comes, there might not be any left for y'all!

Just checked and there's only 1 site left in the circle and one on the side across from the circle.

Does anyone have any insight on how early check-in can be? I see calico has strange times!

Please share if anyone knows!?

Thanks,
Darlene and Bill

It's been a couple of years but it's my understanding that if you arrive before the site is available you can wait in the overflow area. Best to call Calico directly to verify. I can do this tomorrow afternoon.

On my reservation confirmation letter it states:

"Calico Check in time is 4PM and Check out time is 3pm*

*Sites not vacated by checkout time of 3PM are subject to charge for additional day. Campers can park trailers in lower parking lot until site is available or after check out. Conflict resolution may result in placement of incoming campers in alternate site."

Did not pay attention to check in time until now. Wow, 4:00pm seems kinda of late to be able to check in? Do not know any further as this is our first trip there.

No, not unusual, there are parks out here that have that late of check in/out times. I rather have a late check out time than trying to rush in the morning with a hangover, just saying...

Thanks everyone! That's what my letter stated-just wanted to see what others may have experienced?

Looking forward to this trip!

We are looking so forward to this get together and meeting so many new folks. This is our first time doing this sadly enough. We have been doing the camping thing for the last ten plus years. Should have paid more Have paid more attention to all the fun rally's in the past, but better late than never

this may be a bit late, but:
is this the Barstow KOA?
is there any space still available?
what are the rates for the campground?
do we make reservations directly with the campground?
any idea what the weather would be?

This not the Barstow KOA. San Bernardino County Parks website will get you to the reservations page.

There is an KOA in the area but this isn't it. Here's the link for Calico Ghost Town camping reservations:
San Bernardino County Regional Parks Department Online Reservations
When you select a site a picture of it will pop up. Full hook ups site are $40 per night.

The sites in the circle are sold out but there are other sites with full hook ups available in other parts of the campground. Check it out and hopefully you will join in on the fun. It's never to late to party.

As for the weather - it's too soon to tell. October in California warm or hot. If it's hot we could always have a squirt gun fight.

Come on and join the party! You know you want to.

4 pm check-in is the latest I have experienced but got to love the late check-out of 3 pm. I'm hoping to arrive earlier than 4 pm but it depends on when I can actually get off work early.

I really looking forward to Camp Spook (Calico)!! Besides meeting up with great & wonderful people from here it been a long since my last trip (early June) so I'm over due for sitting around the campfire.
