California Rally - 2015

We're wrapping up, what I consider, a GREAT California Dreamin' Rally here at the Petaluma KOA. Through the efforts of a few local FROGs, with support from FR Owners Group, I'm glad that I traveled from Arizona to be a part.

While we bask in the recent memories of this Rally, I hope that the California FROGs are thinking about a 2015 California Dreamin' Rally.

It's never too early to start the planning, and as FROGs travel throughout California I hope that they are on the lookout for a Campground in which a 2015 Rally can be held.

It has been suggested that in 2015 a site in southern California be selected, and then alternate between northern and southern California.

I would be more actively involved in the planning of a southern California Rally if I were located in the area, but that's very difficult to do from Arizona.

So what I'm proposing/asking is that as you travel throughout southern California, if you find a prospective Campground for a Rally, please inquire into whether the Campground would be receptive to allowing a Rally to be hosted there.

Hopefully in the coming months, we can build a list of candidate Campgrounds here in this thread.

Thanks CA, for a great Rally.

Just a thought. Maybe FROG Bob can chime in on this, but what if there was a Northern Rally in the spring and a Southern Rally later in the summer or fall? Or should it stay as one?

Hi Y'all Looks like everyone that was able to attend/stay had a good time at the rally. Was really disappointed we were not able to stay, but life calls........anywaaaay.....if you're going to split the next rally north and south, I would suggest doing SoCal in the spring....they don't usually get the spring rains that NorCal does....and do the NorCal in the summer....the heat is usually not as bad as SoCal with all it's smog cover.
And I know the place for the Norcal rally. It's the 49er Village RV park in Plymouth. It's in the Calif. Gold country and I know they do rallies all the time. 49er Village Home Page
So we need to have another rally........so I can participate this time and enjoy

Plymouth is good during the daffodil days. A lot to do in the area. I will help anyone that wants to put this together.

RV.Net (can I say that here?)does a rally at Canyon Rv in Anaheim Hills,CA. 2015 is scheduled for 4/10. They have 25 sites reserved so it must be big enough to handle a large group. Looks like you may have to reserve early to go there.
Here's a link to the CG:

I put up the info for Canyon Rv park as a suggestion for a location for a FR Rally. I was not suggesting going to the RV. Net rally. Just to clear up any misunderstanding.

I took a look (on line) at that RV Park. I did many Rodeos right next to it in Williams but was only in the park one time to dump on my way to the next Rodeo.

Their published rate is $60/night. The KOA (also in Williams) lists their rate at $54/night. I have no idea what can be worked out on a group rate.

My plans are, when I have a break in the Rodeo stuff, to run up to Williams, visit both parks, and get some details on holding a rally there.

I don't want to clutter up this thread with Arizona stuff, so when I obtain some specific information I'll start an Arizona Rally Interest thread to get an idea of how many Rigs are interested.

Just need to come up with some time, LOL.

FROG will be happy to help support both a northern and a southern California event. We're doing two in Ohio this year, and I suspect that we'll have multiples in some other areas as well. The biggest issue is to make sure that there's enough distance and/or time between the events so that they're not fighting each other for attendance.

We're looking at next year's calendar, and hope to have some tour events in the southewest and up the Pacific coast, so maybe we can tie something together to either start or end in the area of local rallies. We need to get up to Oregon as well to support the events and the group that Bob and Sue Cowan have organized there.

This sounds exciting. Hopefully you decide fall in Southern Ca and Spring in Northern. We are leaving in October from Tampa to Los Angeles and staying in LA and then heading north March 1st to Redwood Nat Park then to Michigan. Any luck, I can make both of them.

I'm tossing in a couple of campgrounds to consider in SoCal. Prado Park in Ontario/Chino area is a pretty large campground. I also like Rancho Jurupa in Riverside too which has two campgrounds in the same park. Will post links soon.

Prado Park

Rancho Jurupa

Both locations are in a reasonable drive to the FR plant in Rialto but so is Canyon RV park but it's a little longer drive. I have stayed in all campgrounds and like them all.

I know that I would most likely attend either so cal or Williams/flagstaff rally. Could always the GC railway RV park so we can hear the trains come by at 2 am just like Goshen!

For me it comes down to dates & work schedule but of course I would love a So Cal event.

Depending on dates selected I'm willing to help too. End of July until Labor Day I am too stressed at work and would not be of much help, if at all.

We would love to go to one in either SoCal or NorCal. We have never been able to go to one. We won't be available till October though. Busy time at work till then.

I should clarify that statement. We are booked at work from mid July to mid October. Every other time is great.
