Hello fellow FROGs! Right about now, we should be checking everyone in during registration. We would have been greeting new and familiar faces. We would have been preparing to kick off another grand and memorable FROG rally weekend. Our hearts are heavy that we are not with you.
First off, we hope this announcement finds you all well and healthy. This is usually the time of many last minute emails and reminders, all of which end with “See you in Gettysburg!” – not so much this year. We didn’t want to let the date go by without letting you know how much we are missing seeing you all. With this year’s event cancelled, there is an unfortunate calm and silence this week… this is usually the time of chaos and excitement for us… and we don’t like the change one bit!
The middle of June usually includes the crazy schedule of our daughters’ school year wrapping up, Father’s Day, and preparing for the Gettysburg FROG Rally… from site signs, bingo prizes, activities and crafts, to banners, movie screens and PA systems… this is usually a time of checklists, packing and preparing. Multiple phone conferences with Team FROG and numerous emails with the Dobbin House, Adams County Winery, and the tour bus company. Trying to fulfill last minute requests, changes and cancellations with the campground…
Have we rebooked all the last minute cancellations? Are the name tags correct?
Is the caterer ready to go and on the same page? (Not really… Ben at Boneyard BBQ makes this truly easy every year…)
Have we counted all the T-shirts and have all the right sizes on hand? (Who ordered the Small!?)
Are the tours all set, drivers, guides and tickets accounted for?
Has the campground had enough of us yet (even before we arrive)?
When is the rain coming? (It always rains just a touch at Gettysburg.)
We can honestly say we miss all the hard work and effort that goes into preparing an event of this caliber. We miss Team FROG and the way that many hands from many backgrounds can join together and pull off one hell of a weekend! Each member bringing their enthusiasm, their special talents and most of all their fellowship to work as a well-oiled machine once each year to make this event possible. (And there always seems to be a couple of instigators that keep a cooler of icy beverages close at hand… like everywhere we happen to go… we miss you!)
Wishing you all well and please know that we’re thinking of you.
Have a great weekend wherever you are, and….
We’ll see you in Gettysburg sometime soon!
Rob and Stephanie Bazzanella (Dieselbobcat)
