Just a little thought for those that are going to be using I-295 either from the north or south; look at maybe using route 60 east. I-64 east as you are coming off of 295 is road construction and can get a little congested. 60 while it may be narrow in a few places between New Kent and Providence Forge, it is far less traffic and it takes you right to the camp ground. It is a 4 lane road until you get a couple miles before the camp ground. My regular route when we go there for a weekend.

Leaving 0700 Thu morning. I tacked one day extra on, so we are leaving Williamsburg Monday morning. Guessing you added a day in the beginning?

Looking at traffic map now, looks like 301 where it connects to 295, North of Richmond, is clear sailing, also clear on 64 all the way to the campground.

Is cutting off of 301 onto 17 faster than taking 301 to 295 to 64? It looks like it might be longer.

Hard to say but if you hit traffic on the Interstate probably not, it is a nice drive down 17 but there is a stretch thru a town that slows due to traffic lights. Myself I choose that route to avoid the major highway

Yeah, 17 runs through some of the near coastal towns like Gloucester and Yorktown. Not a bad drive but not really a time saver.

I altered route in Google maps, 17 adds about 10 minutes to the trip time, it is a few miles longer. I'm guessing 64 will be ok in the afternoon if there are not any incidents. Might check traffic before I get to 17 decision point.

We will be in spot 31 !Plan on leaving sometime Thursday morning , not sure of which route to take I`ll decide depending on what time we get rolling.

Actually gave some thought to taking the Cape May ferry and then down 13 and across the Bay bridge tunnel but lots of lights on 13 .

More than likely going to do the 301 thing like you guys.

13 is horrible and will add lots of time to your trip. This is the way I'm going:

Approximate route. Can you tell I'm getting excited for my first rally??? Not to mention the bay tunnel/bridge is expensive toll.

You will cross the Bay Bridge on this route not the bridge and tunnel, you will pay the toll north bound. On 301 crossing into Va. there is another bridge The Nice bridge that toll you pay south, EZ Pass good at both bridges.

At Horned Rest. then follow GPS. I remember the town starts with T and there is a new bridge but I know it when I see it. You go somewhere since 1984 you just know.

We are in the Annapolis area and take 301 to 17. Nice scenic drive. Easy to make stops if necessary. FYI fuel prices once you get over the 301 bridge are good.

There is a Murphy fuel stop just after you enter Va. where I got diesel before with my whole rig and fit without much issue and we are around 65' total length, the only bad thing was they do not accept Walmart gift cards there, we usually put around $300 on a gift card just to use for fuel as they usually offer another 5 cents off the advertised price, we have 2- 120 gallon fuel tanks so it adds up pretty good for us.

So.....is this the new name for the Williamsburg Rally?

3 corner hat converts to 5 corner in metric, and they’re really hard to find in short order this time of year.

Just askin’.

Heading out in less than 48 hours.

Those using the Bay bridge (us50), one lane (right lane) of the west bound span is closed through April 2020 due to a long term deck rehab project.

Check Baybridge.maryland.gov for updates.
