Kind of off course but is there any way to improve PA system in dining hall? Almost impossible to hear and understand anything.

Bob, it's not real hard to keep an eye on Danny. He doesn't move a lot. He's a great guy, but mobile, he ain't. LOL

I'll watch him when you're busy though.

Here's a story.......
Nice restaurant has a sign that says "Meatloaf. All you can eat, $1.00".

Sounds great, so guy goes in and orders a plate. It's great meatloaf!! He scarfs it up quickly. Asks waitress for another plate.

She says "Sure! That'll be another dollar".

Guy says "Wait! Sign says ALL I CAN EAT for a dollar!"

Waitress says "Honey, that first plate IS all we let you eat for a dollar!!"

That's a problem with which we've wrestled every year.

That building was built to be a vendor exhibit area for the fair, not as a dining room or meeting space. There are weird angles to the ceiling that cause sound to bounce and echo. We've tried multiple speaker configurations, remote speakers, milli-second delays, and all kinds of tech-geek stuff with limited success.

We'll keep trying, but until they put in a new building (tentatively planned for 2020) it will continue to be a problem.

Maybe install a conference room speaker phone on each table?

It's the "each table" situation that causes the hearing problem. Many people at "each table" have no interest in what's being said over the PA system. Therefore, to talk to their friends at "each table", they have to overshout the PA so their friends can hear their private conversations. When that happens at "each table" x 30, private conversations overwhelm PA speech.

Use notification systems on everyone’s telephone and give up on the speakers.

At Frogtoberfest a couple years ago, Turbs was having a hard time being heard. His solution was grab the loudest-mouth SOB he could find and make him do the talking.

I was doing really good too, except that Turbs kept (sotto voce) trying to crack me up. He finally succeed as we were calling names for the attendance prizes. I know it's evil, but some peoples names can be pretty funny when you are fighting a fit of the giggles.

I'm sure everyone in the hall thought we were hammered...

I agree with Mr. Dan a big part of the problem is too many at tables talking.
