Captain Mike, I'm not sure where you are in Florida but I'm courious what you consider the most efficient route up to Moncton NB? I(hope) to be leaving Tampa area mid-to late August for a couple of months in PEI, NB, and NL. I'll be in a 32 ft motorhome with a tow. Ihave no desire to fight my way by DC, or NYC.

RKBob, we were only in Florida for the winter, and are now back in St. Louis.
Obviously, I-95 is the most direct route, but it does take you close to DC and NYC. It is 1,835 miles from Tampa to Moncton via that route.

Or, you could take I-95 to Richmond, VA, then west on I-64 to I-81. Turn north on I-81 to Scranton, PA, then turn east again on I-84, back to I-95. You miss DC, NYC, and stay west of Boston, connecting back to I-95 in Connecticut.

It will add about 225 miles to your trip, and is all interstate driving, but keeps you out of those very busy urban areas that you mentioned.

Hope that helps a little bit.

X2 what Capt. Mike said.

Give the East Coast a wide berth when you get near Washington.

Go wide!!!!

I checked your itinerary for the Maritimes FROG Rally and was curious about the route. From Cavendish to Halifax and from Pictou to St John’s what is your route and what are the respective driving times? We would like to haven been traveling with you guys but knew our vehicle would not be finished in time to register and now understand due to Ram recalls it will even be later. We are considering shortcutting our travel times using the ferry system.
Wasting away in the south Florida sunshine....😎

I listed all of the campgrounds where we will be staying (six in all, from St. Andrews to St. John), their addresses, their GPS coordinates, the distance (in miles and kilometers) and estimated travel times. It will be up to the individuals to determine what routes they want to take, although, in truth, there is usually only one good route between locations.

For PEI, we are using (and recommending to all of the trip participants) to use the Confederation Bridge going both directions. I envision that people might "buddy up" and travel in groups of 2, 3 or 4 units rather than have a mile-long caravan of 24 RVs following one another down the road.

To answer your specific questions: Cavendish to Halifax: 5 to 5.5 hours, 200 miles (322 km)

Cavendish
Prince Edward Island C0A 1M0, Canada

Get on Trans-Canada Hwy/NB-2 E in Westmorland from PE-6 E and PE-8 S
1 h 21 min (113 km)

Follow Trans-Canada Hwy to Fundy Shore Ecotour/Southampton Rd in Nappan. Take exit 3 from Trans-Canada Hwy/NS-104 E
5 min (8.4 km)

Get on Trans-Canada Hwy/NS-104 E from NS-302 S and Nova Scotia Trunk 2 S
33 min (40.3 km)

Continue on Trans-Canada Hwy/NS-104 E. Take NS-102 S to Barrington St in Halifax. Take the Barrington Street exit from NS-111 N
1 h 38 min (171 km)

Follow Barrington St to Argyle St
8 min (5.0 km)
Halifax
Nova Scotia, Canada

And Halifax to Baddeck, Cape Breton: 5.5 to 6 hours towing, 355 km, 220 miles

Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada

Get on NS-111 S from Barrington St
9 min (5.8 km)

Follow NS-102 to Trans-Canada Hwy/NS-104 in Port Hastings
2 h 31 min (263 km)

Follow Trans-Canada Hwy to Margaree Rd in Baddeck
57 min (86.2 km)
Baddeck
Nova Scotia, Canada

I tried to stay between 220 to 250 miles each travel day. Most stops have either 3 or 4 days in the same campground.

We would have loved to have you travel with us.

Enjoy your trip and be safe.

Mike

Wait a minute... The main reason it took as long as it did is because we followed the route YOU suggested. I got 1 turn wrong near the end that put us behind a road painting crew. That cost us about 15 minutes....
