We are brand new owners and forum members. Bought our V-Lite at the Houston show in February and then had to go buy a truck to pull it. We are in far north Houston, off of FM 1960 between I-45 and the Hardy Toll Road. Our registration is already in for the Rally in Goshen, and we'd love to have a local group to get together with.

Awesome! We are in the process of getting a group going here in Texas, please join the start of it on Facebook , called Frog-Texas group. We are brand new to RV'ing also, got our unit last Thursday , we are going to Gardner state park for our second outing, still trying to get the feel, of it, had a few mine problems last weekend, and a few things to be fixed at the dealership. But we LOVE it?
I agree Texas needs to represent !! So let's get this going!

I'll be curious to hear your report on Gardner - it looks awesome! Maybe we'll try it in the next month or two. You must have bought from Ron Hoover - we stayed across the freeway after we picked ours up - at Alamo Fiesta. Unfortunately it was January and a couple of those freezing nights! We found out that the heater worked!

Even though I'm in Arizona I'm willing to drive to Texas for a FROG.
I have family NE of Dallas/Ft Worth.
I'm also heading to the FROG rally in Canada in June 30th in Ontario.
We will be around Plano TX for a few days starting June 20th.
Keep us posted

We are planning our "maiden voyage" for next weekend. We had intended to go to the resort adjacent to Coushatta Casino in Louisiana, but they are already full. Any suggestions for a destination for newbies?
We think that, at least for this first outing, we need a pull through space since our V-Lite has slides on both sides and our anti-sway hitch has to be adjusted before we can back up. For right now we just want to get started!
We're open to suggestions within a few fours of Houston. Anyone want to meet up and have a few laughs as we try to remember everything from our walk through, etc.? I can almost guarantee that we will mess something up.

Ray/Steph,
What kind of "stuff" are you looking to do while you're at your destination? Exploring, antiqueing, wildlifeing, fishing, or just kicking back and enjoying the nothing? As this is your first outing, you may want to find a place at least reasonably close to a Wal-Mart (or other store where you can get things you forgot or just didn't know you need). We've been a lot of places around the East Texas areas, so I might be able to suggest something. Let us know what you are looking to do.
And it would probably be best to start a new thread for this so the FROG-Houston thread can continue on that subject.

Absolutely great idea! This is just what we need here in TX. We are currently camping out in Georgetown in our 2013 Rockwood Mini-Lite. Just me, DH & Cooper the guard cat. Having a great time in spite of the winds. Our home is in Horseshoe Bay, across the lake from Marble Falls. But it is for sale and as soon as it sells, we are ordering a Cedar Creek 36CKTS 5er to spend the next couple years in. We started out this year at the "Kick Back & Relax Rally" in Florida. Had such a great time that we were among some of the 1st registrants for the Goshen Rally. Can't wait!!! But it would sure be great to have a local group. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

Ray & Steph,
There are a couple of great campgrounds in Livingston. One is a KOA on the North shore of Lake Livingston, been there twice; great water front site with wonderful evening sunsets over the lake. Another more rustic campground is Lake Tombigbee about half way between Livingston and Woodville. It's on the Alabama Coushatta Tribe reservation, off Hwy 190 in the woods, very quiet and relaxing ($25 for FHU, 50a pull-thru) but no cable, OTA, or WiFi. We spent 5 nights of spring break there with nine other rigs, great time.

Lori,
Contact F.R.O.G. (Bob Byrne) through this forum. He's the Director of forest River Owners' Group and works directly for the manufacturer. He can probably give you some suggestions for getting organized and may kick in to pay for a meal or give you some other "swag" like caps, etc. for your first "official" FROG-Texas rally.

Count us in, just went to the FB page, "Liked" and left a comment. We travel a good bit in the summer, but if there is anything we can do to help just let me know.

Lori, I saw your FB page last night (actually WAAAY early this morning). I'd be happy to help someone get activities going in TX. We have a very active group in OK, initially set up by Bob & Nancy Schorfheide, and now have locally organized events scheduled for MO, FL, and now OR. We've had our sights on the Houston or San Antonio area, but haven't put anything together there yet.
We've just finished the Cherry Blossom Festival in DC, and should be in the office on Wednesday. You can get me on the forums, by e-mail at frog@forestriverinc.com, or by phone at (574) 825-8532.
