I'm planning Goshen 2019 if I can get a ticket when the time comes. We are going to Sturgis, SD this year. Campgrounds start opening April 12th but ten day forecast still shows lows in the 20s so not sure they will have water on.

Given the current weather, I am hoping to have my Rig de-winterized by Frogtoberfest

Yeah this weather needs to fix itself. April 12th campgrounds open but if these temps stay like this they won't turn the water on.

I just got a call from my storage place telling me they had an opening for a smaller spot. I didn't know I was buying a new RV. Turns out there is another guy with the same name........phew! I do hope the weather in Iowa improves soon. It looks like my schedule will be bringing me back there for another short visit. Probably won't have time to stay and visit though.

Steve, you're welcome to buy as many RVs as you want, as long as they're Forest River units. You don't need permission from anyone else. (Don't tell Betsy I said that!)

TRAVEL DILEMMA AND WHAT TO DO. I NEED HELP.
OK so I can drive from Massachusetts to Fort Myers to take the RV the after Columbus Day Weekend and it's a 1466 mile trip. We usually drive a 600 mile round trip to New York State for Columbus Day Weekend and then I would drive to Florida after that. So that's 600 miles plus 1466 miles.

The Frogtoberfest falls on Columbus Day Weekend this year. It is 1,232 miles from my house to where the beer and corn are. If I go to Amana Colonies, I miss Columbus Day Weekend near home with friends. But we camp with them all the time and some of them are annoying. I like camping with my 2-3 times a year friends and really want to get the RV down to Florida for the winter. But, it's another 1,408 miles from Amana Colonies to Fort Myers. So"...............

If I go west to Iowa, it's 2,600+ miles
If I go to NY and back home and then to FL it's 2,000+ miles

So the question turns out to be: which direction should I go and why. All answers without a why, will be rejected.

PS, I was just in Iowa on business and the weather was great.

Well, Frogtobterfest is based on Octoberfest which is a traditional drinking event 100s of years old. I donít think any other argument is valid after that.

Amana of course. The why? Because you already made up your mind and you just want someone to validate your decision.

Steve, a key part of the answer is highlighted in red. You're adding 600 miles, but the trade-off is camping with FROG friends.

On the way west you get to travel part of New England, the Berkshires (how appropriate!), and more for the beautiful fall foliage. Your route to Florida then gives you the opportunity to travel part of the Great River Road, particularly the Illinois side from Grafton to Alton along the bluffs that tower over the Mississippi. You'll thread your way between the limestone bluffs and the river, and maybe stop to learn the legend of the Piasa Bird.

The direct route takes you through western Kentucky, where you can stop by the Land Between the Lakes and have dinner at Patty's 1880's Settlement in Grand Rivers. The steaks, the ribs, and the signature 2" thick pork chops are incredible. Leave room for the flower pot bread and the homemade pies.

In Tennessee you'll catch the southern portion of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and maybe veer just slightly east to catch the magnificent fall foliage as it continues to follow you southward in the Smoky Mountains.

This, my friend, is a no-brainer. Iowa, here you come!
