Stopped by Whittington Woods yesterday enroute back from a western adventure just to recon for the mini...some of our power pedestals are located in a funky manner. For example sites 1-5 are side-by-side pull thrus but #4 is reverse direction in order to share a power pedestal with a neighbor. As a result the front doors on 4&5 actually face each other. Poor 5er_ has to stare at RJ's not-so-pretty face every time he exits the camper, sorry Tom.

Sites 16 and 27 have been notified of the unusually long distance to the power pedestals requiring an extension cord. The campground has 30amp cords to loan but not 50amp. Plan accordingly, Amazon is your friend! Be sure to bring your chairs and some popcorn over to Site #27 when Cowracer arrives...even though he has the largest buddy site in the campground he still has to maneuver between two tall old growth maple trees and my money is on the trees.

The bathhouse and pool most likely will NOT be open this season, thankfully we all have full hookup sites.

The restaurant up the road is currently serving take out only but the winery is open for business. One exit north of the campground, about 6 miles (exit #83) is Uncle Joe's BBQ they are open and the dining room is operational. Brand new Speedway fuel station right across the street, however, the bridge is one lane construction with a long red light wait.

If you are traveling from the north to get here be aware there's a lot of one lane construction on I-57 south between I-64 and the campground. It's slow travel but there were no stops thru the entire area. The Illinois state RV trailer suspension test track is in full operation on this route.

Remember all the feathered creatures running around the facility, well as it turns out the non-duck looking birds actually produce eggs and the front office had a basket full for the taking...breakfast was issued to us as we checked in.

That is all !

I do carry a 50A extension cord, so don’t rush out and buy one. They can be $$$! I am happy to let someone use it IF I don’t need it. Had it 5 years now and used it twice.

Mini Rally July 19-21, 2019

When the new Wagon-master (RJ) makes reservations for next year hopefully he will do it early enough that we can be back in the corner as in previous years. No one seemed to have any connection issues back there.

The nice lady at the office was not accepting reservations for 2021 just yet. I asked hoping to claim all the site#92 +/- area that we like. Maybe by the time we arrive we can all book next year prior to leaving. I brought an extra Mt Rushmore souvenir from recent trip to bribe the office staff if necessary.

Unfortunately sites 1-5 are absolutely the smallest in the campground. 4 feet of grass between rigs is the max. #27 however appears to be a large buddy site so I'll bring a 10x20 pop up and we can all huddle around Cowracer's site to stay warm !

Sure do appreciate that you are scoping out the sites for us. The info is good. You would make a good Wagon-master.
