Southeast Rally 2018 Location Poll

Starting to think about where to hold the southeast rally in June 2018. Last year it was very successful in Mount Airy, NC (town Mayberry RFD was based on). This year it is near Helen, GA. Last year I promised to bring it back to Mount Airy aka Mayberry in 2018. My question is would people prefer to return to Mayberry, go elsewhere in NC ie Maggie Valley, Asheville, outer banks, or go to TN, maybe near Sevierville or Pigeon Forge.

Mayberry was nice but the long duration we ran out of things to do. The DW and I like to be able to see and do things around the area. Makes for interesting trip and see what the areas have to offer. Just my two Penneys worth. Later RJD

Allie, consider changing the answers. Sevierville and Pigeon Forge are only about five miles apart. There are a lot of great (and large) campgrounds in that area. All the listed locations would be great but I'll vote for the Tennessee location for the same reasons Ace mentioned.

At some point during every day you suddenly realize nothing else productive is going to happen the rest of that day. For me, it usually occurs around 9 am.

I think she could combine the two as Pigeon forge/ Sevierville Later RJD

I vote for Mayberry because it is close to me and has a lot of sites. I understand that some might not have found much to do but the area does have several things to do within a 30-40min ride. What is a estimate of the dates for the rally next year?

Also, wanted to add that River Plantation in Sevierville TN is a nice campground.

Hopefully you will get enough responses prior to our June rally in Helen and we can discuss. Later RJD

I cut the poll off in 30 days so we will be able to discuss and try to come up with something tentative by them.

I have a pigeon forge trip coming up and it really does look like a lot to do in the area. Bunches of campgrounds in the area. Never been to either Pigeon Forge or Mayberry. But to agree with Ace I think we need things for people to do on downtime. I vote TN but will go anywhere for the simple fun of it!

To be fair, Ace and I are now sharing the Southeast Rally duties. We decided to combine forces to make things easier.

I would love to do a Charlotte Rally as there is a ton to do there but no decent campgrounds to make that happen. Same thing with Raleigh/Durham. There is a nice campground but no pavilion type facilities and not much for kids to do at the campground.

Since our GTS was delayed for paint we missed Mayberry last time so I voted for it.

While the Gatlinberg / Pigeon Forge area does have a lot to do it is often very overcrowded. We've been to the area several times and it just keeps getting worse. We've started using my hotel points if we want to visit that area and leave the RV at home.

Maggie Valley would be my second choice... I've heard a lot about it but haven't visited it yet.

Believe it or not, I haven't been to Maggie Valley yet either. For those that don't know anything about Maggie Valley here is some info on it.

My vote for Maggie Valley. We did like the Pidgeon Forge area but the tourist traffic was horrible.
