The yet unnamed eclipse rally?

I started planning my trip to see the April 24 solar eclipse a year ago. I live in Columbus, Ohio (Just back from the FROG RALLY in Goshen. ) My house will be at99% coverage, so we decided to travel somewhere for totality. My first choice was the KOA in Wapakoneta, ohio and I called them on April 8th of this year only to find out some #$%#$ RV group had the whole campground reserved.

I then made a reservation in my original home town of Erie, Pa. At the dutch oven cooking demo at the FROG rally I heard is was the FROG group is the one with the campground reserved. Sure hope I get a shot at a spot!

I'll be going to see it in East Texas. I made my reservation at a private campground back in May. My sister, who lives there, says the local TV stations and newspapers are saying the area motels and campgrounds are filling up fast. They expect an influx of hundreds of thousands of people in their county alone (Smith County).

My brother and sister both live in spring branch tx and we will be there to see them and the eclipse. We were barely able to get reservations a few months ago.

This not a g Frog rally and is not listed on there site. FR attends the Heresy Camping show. Later RJD

People at the FROG rally said it will be on their site, but is not yet, they supposedly have the entire campground booked a year ago.

Does anyone have any certain knowledge that an eclipse rally is happening? I could shoot it from my yard (I live in Indianapolis), but I'd rather go to a rally. In 2017, I found some mountain scenery for a foreground (Sugarloaf Mountain, Diamond Ring), but that is not a high priority for me this time.

If y'all wait until the 24th of April you will miss the eclipse by more than two weeks.

Thanks, but the eclipse is at about 3:06 pm EDT on April 8, 2024 in Indianapolis. With the official FROG page promoting the 2024 CHENANGO VALLY, NY FROG RALLY (July 25-28)for the past few months, I'd think an early April rally would have already posted.

The Chenango Valley Rally is posted when it is because NY State parks allow campers to book their sites 9 months ahead of time. These parks fill fast, so putting this rally on the website early makes sense. Last I saw, there is still one spot open if anyone is interested.

To my knowledge, there are TWO rallies in the planning stages for the Great Eclipse of 2024: One in Ohio, the other in Texas. Just watch the events page for times and locations of both these rallies!

There are only 52 total sites available, and registration opens at Noon ET on Januaary 17 (and likely closes at 12:01).
