12 v fans for off grid

Boondocking in Florida can be difficult when it’s hot at bedtime. I have added two 12v fans from Walmart by the bed but they are a little noisy. My latest hack is a whisper quiet fan from a computer that keeps a little air moving and uses a tiny amount of electricity. Where to mount it is the next question.

Great idea! Thanks for sharing. I have lots of these floating around and will try it. Maybe find a good way to mount them on a flexible mic holder. Not sure why it never occurred to me to do this. I wire them to USB and plug into phone chargers all the time and could use a large phone charging battery.

Right now for camping I use a ryobi fan as it can use an AC cord or my tool batteries for 12hrs on low and recharge after they run out when running the generator. I have 4 batteries so no issues getting through a long weekend at least.

Walmart has some nice 12 V oscillating fans a little noisy but better than being overly hot. I’ve installed cigarette lighter outlets in strategic places for those fans. I used the overhead light wiring accessed through the hollow cabinet base. The wall facing the sun gets really hot so the little computer fans may need to be portable. The breeze does not travel far but the silence is golden.
