One of my favorite free campsites is Mooch Docking with friends and relatives. For almost free (low cost) check out Harvest Hosts & Boondockers Welcome.

I had reviewed that list and the accompanying youtube video last year and incorporated 3 of those sites into our cross country trip this year. 2 of the locations were some of the most scenic on our trip. I never would have known about them if not for his list!
And I love Free!

I actually love lists like this, because most people who want to “rough it” and boondock also don’t want to put real time and effort into finding a truly off the beaten path area and camp…. Which allows me to have those spots with no competition and no company. I have found spots on top of mountains overlooking valleys, or near pristine looking lakes, areas that have zero light pollution.

So yes, please everyone read lists like this and go to the places on the lists…. My serene spots will still be untouched then.

I will tell you this AlaskaErik….. a couple of my spots I had found on the Kenai Peninsula when I worked up there. Granted I wasn’t pulling a trailer, but I was able to drive up to them in my SUV and pitch a tent.
