Being a Honda head who carers about service anyway? They never require service or so I hear at least.

We won't mention about my 2 Honda engines that puked, one dropped a valve and the other had a bad carb..... they never break though..

When I want to drain my gas tank, I invert the generator over a 5 gallon bucket. It drains every time that way. Flip it back over, start it up and run the balance out of the carb. Good to go.

Is that where the "Flip" came from?

We bought a Honda eu2000 10 years ago for our Aliner. It is a great generator. When we moved up to a TT (13,500 btu AC) the Honda was not enough. Buying the Honda 3000 was simply out of my comfort zone, so we bought a Champion 3100. It is quiet (as quiet as the Honda according to my decibel meter), starts first pull, and for the price of an e-mail Champion sent a high altitude jet free of charge. Will it last as long and be as trouble free as the Honda? Get back with me in 10 years.

We were in the same boat last summer. We went for two Briggs and Stratton 2000's. In a test side by side the Honda is quieter but it is so close that it doesn't matter. I'm very impressed with the quality and expect many years of use.

There is a strainer or something in the tank, I don't think that siphon tube will get down to the bottom.

Are you serious or being facetious? I figured if you flipped it, you would get oil in places you don't want it to be...

Thanks

On this same subject. I have been looking at TT's for over a year. Also looked at & considered C & A class, came very close to buying an A. The ONLY reason I looked at motor homes is because of the generator thing. We don't & won't camp. It will be a portable motel room. FINALLY FOUND the Arltic Fox TT's. Very well built and offer beautiful couples floor plans with generator prep & starting under 5100 dry up to 6500 dry. Can order w/generator installed. LP. Have looked at pros & cons of LP to Petro and determined it's a toss up. They are built in Oregon. We are putting a big addition on our house this spring so as soon as that is done we will take a nice drive from Illinois to Oregon. I will be sure to take the trailer tow draw bar/ball along.

Anyone know if the inverter on the EU2000i produces a modified sine wave or a pure sine wave?

TIA,

Theo

Supposedly... many say an inverter generator is by design, pure sine wave.
I've not read that in anyone's technical specs though.
I've read words like 'clean,' regulated,' and 'low distortion.'

I've read reviews stating pure sine wave but I haven't seen it in Honda writing.

Strainer

Gectisme, If there is a strainer in the tank,it might be just an insert and it can be removed by the tank opening and then you can use that siphon tube to go down the bottom of the tank.
By the way, my Ryobi 2000 does not have a trainer.

Still have no idea why you would ever drain your fuel. Sta-Bil is much easier

I think you got gypped. Everyone I've ever seen has a trainer /strainer.

Specifically, the blue Marine Stabil, not the stinky red stuff that has no impact on e-gas.

Yep, out this in all of my gas cans so it goes into anything the gas does. Never had a problem starting anything since I began that regiment.

I find that humorous at best.

Carry on, I have my popcorn in the microwave (that is running on my Champion Inverter.)
They simply are better in the long run. I have a 28 year old Yamaha snow blower still running on the original spark plug. I live in Manitoba and it gets used lots. But, for 3 or 4 times a year I probably would buy something less expensive.

Everyone has their stories.
I have 10-12 small engine, pieces of equipment. None Honda or Yamaha.
They all run perfect and have so for years.

I recently sold an open frame/contractor type generator to a co-worker that I bought brand new in 1970. Briggs & Stratton engine. It has been a work horse. I'd hate to guess the number of hundreds of hours of use. Sat out in the rain, snow and cold many nights and chugged along.

When I sold it to the guy, I told him the price and offered if it didn't start on the FIRST pull, he could have it for $50 less. He jumped at the chance but is $50 poorer.
