Question on Solar

Forgive me for my lack of knowledge, we got our camper (Grey Wolf 24JS) on the day the dealers all closed for Covid so we didn't get the usual rundown on details. We were told our unit was "solar ready" which I thought just meant they had some wires in there and a mount on the roof. So today I made my first roof inspection and was surprised to find what appears to be a solar panel on the roof. My question is this, Is this panel operational? is it actually providing charge to the battery? Or do you have to have some wire & plug to connect the solar port to the battery

Question on Solar

My new Cherokee said the same thing. When i asked the dealer, they said, are the lights working in the trailer? Well yeah, the lights were working and the radio was working. Went and looked at the trailer and found no plug in and no battery installed. But the lights were on and the radio was working. So yes, the one 50w solar panel on the roof works. At least in my situation. There was a device in the front cargo area also.

Find the pouch that they left in the unit with all documentation and manuals.
Also start looking for a solar charge controller, probably mounted in a wall somewhere inside.

Chances are you are also “solar ready” which is as it was 5 years ago when they wired a 2 conductor plug on the exterior of the unit to allow connection of a portable panel and controller directly to battery

Note : My charge controller does not function until it is hooked up to a battery.

I did see a small electronic box mounted on the inside of the cargo bay.
