Redwood National Park

We are planning 4-5 nights in our 27' Lexington Mid-November at Redwood National Park. We live near Seattle and are heading to S. California for Thanksgiving at family's house.

Does anyone have suggestions on where to stay in the park, and what to do? We have twin 8 year old girls, so no expert hikes.

This will also be our first time staying at RV sites with no hookups.

If you have been to the Redwoods, please give us some input and suggestions.

Thanks.

our favorite spot has been Prairie Creek State Park. that there are elk living there along with the beautiful Fern Canyon, make it one of the best spots in the area to visit.
you can stop on the beach, near Fern Canyon to do some beachcombing. you'll often see bachelor elks laying on the beach.

the campground has a few sites that are for larger rigs.
the other loops are smaller but we got our 23' HTT into one of them. i've seen other RVs in those sites also, you just have to check on the sizes of the sites there.

there are a number of private RV parks with hookups, within the park.

are you coming down 101 all the way or are you cutting over from I5?

My wife & I spent our honeymoon in N. California. San Fran 2 nights, Napa 1 night, Ferndale 4 nights. One of the places we visited was Fern Canyon. It's a heck of a drive to get to. We were in a rented Ford Focus, and some of the twists and turns were almost too tight for it. I'd never try to take an RV or a travel trailer there. We did get to see some of the Roosevelt Elk up close, probably 30'. Being from SW Ga. I'd never seen an animal that big! Huge!

the coolest thing is to see the bachelor stags laying on the beach and walking through the surf! it's amazing to see elk on an ocean beach.

Amen, Prairie Creek is a must with Fern Canyon while there. It's been years since I was there but I still remember my first visit and how amazed I was to see the ocean breakers, sand dunes and elk. It seemed an unreal combination. Other places are Jedediah Smith, The Avenue of the Giants and the many memorial groves. Look on the NPS website for Redwoods NP. We had fun riding the Skunk Train out of Fort Bragg to Willits.
