17FQ

We just traded a Jay Flight SLX 145rb for a "bigger" Viking 17FQ. No problems with the Jayco, but it was too small, even for two. For the three extra feet of length, we get: a walkaround queen bed, a dinette that we do not have to disassemble and reassemble every day to sleep, a full size bathroom with sink and vanity, full sized tanks for everything, 14" tires, more storage space. . .

The Viking also had little touches that were missing from the Jayco for cost cutting. I looked closely at the Clipper/Viking trailers a few years ago, but the 2017 has a new frame and larger wheels that I like even better now.

At this time our Clipper is in storage, so I don't access to mine. Could someone possibly measure the sink opening for me on their 17fq? I want to build a cover for it, but I don't have access to mine to get the measurements. Could I get the inside opening and outside rim dimensions?

I just saw the layout for the Clipper 17FQS! I may have gone this route if it was an option when we bought our 17FQ. Gives that extra dinette space I would have liked to have.

glad to help I made a cutting board that fits over the cooktop and can be used for extra prep space. I thought it would come in handy. was easier to make then a sink cover I don't have a router just some saws and mechanical tools. I am not really a wood worker although my Dad and brother were carpenters. good luck in what you do.

Did you look at what that slide does to the already meager cargo capacity?
17FQ - 749lbs.
17FQS - 408lbs.

I noticed that when I looked at the specks. Holy cow Just filling the fresh water tank eats up 264 pounds so you're down to a meager 144 lbs!

Plus I wonder how far into the center isle the slide out sits when it's closed up. No quick stops to use the bathroom while in travel mode.

I didn't even consider the 17 FQS when I saw the numbers. The slide adds pounds and costs $ and all you get is a bigger dinette and some walking space. In a trailer this small, a slide is more trouble than necessary. Just brought home our 17 FQ and are happy with our decision.

17fq

I weighed every thing I added to our 17fq last year after we brought it home not Including a full tank of water and came up with 460 lbs .If I remember we are allowed about 730 lbs. add 30 gals of water about 250 lbs and your at 700.lbs and that is not adding a lot of stuff.I bet most travel trailers are over loaded.

I see tow vehicles where the front wheels are nearly off the ground all the time. Overloaded or incorrectly balanced.

At night their headlights are "spotlighting" low flying aircraft!

Yes Laplata I have seen this also that's why I insisted on having a WDH put on my jeep .The dealer said you don't need it I said I won't buy it with out it and there was no more argument .This thing pulls like a dream even 20mph side wind gust didn't push me around . when I had my popup that weighed 2000.lbs it would sway a little if I didn't get the weight distributed just right.SO I believe in the WDH even on smaller trailers money well spent.

We replaced the stock shower curtain with a regular size curtain. The length is more than enough to stay inside the shower pan. Might still cut the curtain shorter but we will wait a bit for that. Don't cut anything until you actually try it out.

We actually are stepping on the bottom of the curtain buts that's ok to me considering the extra body room.

Another quick tip. The wardrobe closets on either side of the queen bed are very narrow at the top and won't fit regular size hangars. Had me stumped until I saw child size hangars at the store. They fit just fine and hold our adult size clothes just fine. This is for the 17 FQ.
