Welcome to the forum its a great place to get your questions answered. This is a guess on my part could it be for the step lite? Someone will chime in soon I sure with what it actually does.

Like I said, no lights are limited, and/or controlled by this switch.

The pic is so dark, I can barely see the switch - but I have a big flat switch that controls my ceiling fan.

One of those doesn't look to be factory. It would be unusual to install two different colors like that.
What color are the other switch/outlet plates in the trailer?

Living room fan switch.
I have a Chapparral 336tsik has the same type switch it turns ceiling fan on and off. You may need to pull the chain on the fan to one of the speeds first or the forward and reverse to make sure it is engaged

so the color matches on both the plug's and the light's that plug is a GFI, down side i don't have a ceiling fan so now i guess i will pull it and see if i even have wires to it. spent the day doing the brakes because they had never been adjusted. seals falling out of the rotor, yeah fun day!

Tis a puzzle. Could the light switch control the electric plug next to it? It's hard to tell from the picture, but that looks like an electric outlet in an unusual place. You'd think a switch located next to the door would control overhead lights so that you could turn them on as you enter the rig, but that might be too logical. Could it be that you had an overhead fan/light that's been removed by the previous owner?

so puzzle solved! it controls one of two outside plugs, so it worked good for patio LED's. but it really makes no seance to me that they would control one plug but not the one that is located only a foot and a half apart, the switch controls the plug furthest away from the switch.
