320 BHDS Surge protector location

After reading about the importance of a surge protector, I have decided to order one. Hard wired model... progressive industries 50 amp with the remote display.

My question to any other 320 owners who have installed one is where did you end up mounting it? Under the inverter or in the bunkhouse closer to the shore power connection? Does it matter?

Seems like all the info I've found on installation has really been targeted to 5ers. Maybe due to the fact that 50 amp service is not that common on a TT?

while I do not have one, I would think the only place in my trailer would be under the power center. I am curious if you have the same unit though, the 14 I walked through at the dealer looked to have a different (smaller overall footprint) distribution center.

As to the bunkhouse, first problem is the power cable is in the back corner with the water pump and outside shower lines (because running all water and power together must be a good idea...
The power cable actually runs under the floor to the power center in the kitchen, so you would need to either reroute or add a loop of cable to mount in under the outdoor kitchen side bunk.

If that's the case, I'll definitely be installing it in the kitchen.
You're right about the power and water in the rear corner....really need to rethink that one

Our water pump failed last spring, started spitting water out the side. Walked back in that room to find water on the floor. Pulled that access panel, there was water standing in that corner, everything was sopping wet. I was trying the dry it out when I realized I was holding a wet towel on a 30 amp 110v live feed. Made my hair stand on end. Ran outside first and killed the pedestal breaker.

Hate that design.

That would be a little unnerving, to say the least! Gotta wonder if they even think about these things when they design them. Sheesh!
