This is my third trailer with slide toppers (2 fifth wheels before this one) and all had at least one slide that pooled. The advantages of a slide topper far outweigh any minor inconvenience. Here's what my rail looks like.

Ken.... Thanks for the pic of your topper and the rail. I am picking up my Apex from the dealers this morning and I'm going to ask them about price to have one installed.

I think that having a topper is better.

glsimms: I paid $600 for the dealer to install my black slide topper. Don't know if that is a good price. Another extra I would highly recommend is the Dexter E-Z Flex/Wet Bolt suspension kit install ($450 installed). The factory setup starts wearing out as soon as you start using your trailer. You can find plenty of info on this on here and the internet.

Thanks Ken for the info, very much appreciated. I picked up the trailer today and I talked to the service manager about a slide topper. He went out and took some measurements and thinks it can be done. Maybe take down the drip rail and mount the slide rail there. I'll look in to the Dexter E_Z Flex suspension kit too.

So for everyone following

I got the topper today and looked over the instructions it says to locate the top rail 3 inches above the upper edge of the slide room I believe that is if you have a deep slide I have 2 inches and I don't have a deep slide so I think I'm good

FYI they don't provide you with butyl tape so you would need to get that and silicon

Stay tuned I'm going to shoot to install this weekend

I finally got to installing the slide topper. It went easy and turned out pretty good. I had 1 issue I didn't order the right size I should of ordered a 12'6 but I got a 12' because that was the with of the slide out. One other thing I would of mounted it about an 1" lower on the slide out for a more greater pitch. All in all I'm happy with it

apex slide topper

Hello! again Bob O looks like you did a good job on your topper install. Hard to tell from the picture how much slope you got but I'm sure it will be better than no topper. My Apex came in yesterday. I'm going to have the dealer install the same slide topper on my unit. They are going to do it for 670.00. I'll try to negotiate that when I go to do my PDI. I just don't feel comfortable drilling holes in a new camper. I did a lot of mods on a new van back in the 70's ,sunroof, tear shaped windows, complete interior, but that was a long time ago.

Yeah there's not much slope to it It sits about an 1-1/2 above the frame of the slide out so if I knew that before I mounted the brackets I would of lowered it an inch for a greater runoff oh well live and learn right
