Bad Furnace Blower Motor

The furnace blower motor failed over the weekend of the 23rd of October. The motor would come on for 30 seconds and then shut down. I thought it was a failed sail switch. Turns out it was in fact, the blower motor failing.

It was still under warranty. The Freedom Express 20SE was purchased new in February of 2021, but from a dealer in Florida, the only dealer that had this brand new floor plan from Coachmen. It wouldn't hit other dealers until the middle of summer, 2021. Unfortunately, I live in Virginia.

Fortunately for me, the local General RV dealer is both a Coachmen and authorized Dometic (Atwood) dealer. They squeezed me in this week. From the customer work order this is what was found.

"Blower motor has internal ground." Correction is "Replace motor. ... Rep from Atwood (Dometic) said the ohms on motor is low. ..."

A new motor was ordered and a date for replacement was set up for a month from now. The repair date will be moved up if the motor comes in sooner than expected.

Want to give a shout out to General RV Center here in Ashland, VA. They could have "slow played me" since the trailer wasn't purchased from them, and to Dometic (formerly Atwood) working quickly with the dealer.
