Blackstone Griddle

The Mrs wanted a 17" Blackstone griddle with cover and stand - so I did what I was told and got one. My questions are - Where do most store it during travel? And are there issues specific to the griddle that I should consider before I just put it somewhere?

Once I got all the pieces I quickly realized the following -
1) It's heavier than I expected.
2) It doesn't fit in the slide out that holds the coleman grill that came with camper.
3) I already have a lot of stuff in the back of the truck and in pass thru.

Of course I can easily rearrange our stuff and make it fit but was hoping for something I hadn't thought of that was sensible. Also should it not be next to anything that I need to be aware of?

I have a toyhauler so I just lay it in the corner of garage. And yes it is heavy..

Mine does fit in a storage compartment. I have the 22" with the lid and table legs. I store the griddle separate from the box. By standing it up on its edge, it takes very little floor space. When I move it around, it's always in 3 parts - stand, box, griddle. This helps a lot with the weight.

Try to keep the griddle clean before storing. Otherwise critters will be interested.

Keep the griddle itself somewhere it'll stay dry. Water, especially on the non-seasoned parts will cause rust. Rust and food are not a good combo.

My 17” Blackstone stays in my outdoor kitchen shelf. I clean the griddle and turn it upside down in the burner. It sits neatly all by itself and doesn’t move when traveling. I wipe the griddle down again before I use it. No cover or legs on mine.

We bought the storage bag to keep it in. It stays on the floor for travel and under the camper on our totes if bad weather.

I have a Blackstone 17" with lid and I find it will fit on the shelf above to the left of the fridge sideways. Now I don't have the stand just the grill. I also have to take off the propane adapter that I have to use it on the trailer. I used a foam kneeling pad to go between the griddle and the fridge to protect them. Works good. Maybe there is room above it to put the stand (assuming it comes off easy)

(I also don't use the coleman grill thing. Its out of the trailer. I use the space to store stuff.)

We have the Blackstone Tailgater Combo with the Griddle and Propane Grill in one. Yeah, it's a Heavy bugger. Well built, though. We love using it, and I store it in the back of the pickup. Pretty full back there, with the Generator, Straw, Solo Bonfire, Blackstone, Firewood, Blocking, and tool kit. I just like to be prepared. Air Force training, I guess. Safe Travels!

We carry our 22" in the back of our toad, along with the camping chairs. We unload and set it up when we get to our destination.

i have a 208 bhs, and last week i mounted a 17" blackstone with lid onto rails in the outdoor kitchen. I had to push the fridge all the way over so that it would fit. The fridge does not open all the way, maybe 80-85 degrees open vs a nice 90... but it doesn't really cause any issues.

i took out the existing rails and used some 250lb rated heavy duty rails. 22inch. Currently the black stone clears the trailer by 1-2inches.. i did a lot of heat tests this weekend, and it doesn't heat up the side of the camper at all.

i looked every where for drawer slides that would open longer, but couldn't find any. Realized on the weekend that I could just add another set of drawer slides, and mount two sets of slides. I am going to get some 500 lb 18" slides, and do just that. It should put the black stone about 20" away from the side of the trailer, hopefully with no jiggle (there is no jiggle now, its rock solid on the 22" slides).

It is awesome just to slide it out, cook, let it cool off, and then slide it back.

oh, i re-did the inside of the storage as well.. i took everything out, laid down two 2x4s, and screwed them into the floor.

i'll take some pictures once i'm done if anyone is interested.

Just read a previous thread about Blackstone Griddle and resetting the gas regulator to use a 20 LB tank instead of the little 1 Lb.

dbender I also have a 208. I would love to see what you did on this. I want to upgrade the Coleman before our next trip. Do you have some time to post your pics?

Sure, i'll post some at lunch time today. I've been waiting to see if everything is working properly before posting..

Just got back from camping for the last 4 days. Griddle and slides work really well. I'm going to make a little shelf that fits on the rails next to the blackstone to give me a place to put spatulas/etc.

I'm working on a set of "leveling" pieces to get the griddle super level, because even though the trailer is "pretty good".. the extensions over emphasize any issues and i get pooling on the griddle..

I just got an adapter and the longer propane line for mine so I can hook into the existing propane connection on back of my trailer. That is already a low pressure line. Works great. Didn't have to reset anything.

Being the dutiful Husband. I also zipped off an order to Amazon. We have had it for almost a year now. The War Department loves it! She loves it so much, I have yet to clean it. My only mission is to hook it up to the Trailer Propane. And put it back in the truck. AFTER SHE CLEANS it, EMPHASIS Intended!!
The old BBQs and I do mean several of them are hidden in the shed awaiting a Garage Sale.
