Can't get heater on

OK, so I am new to trailers and maybe just a dork. I have the propane on, but I can't get the heater to come on. It's dometic, but I can't find any info on it.
The tab that slides with the temperature settings doesn't slide. I've tried pulling it forward and pushing backwards before sliding, but it feels like it would break. What am I doing incorrectly??

Do you have a picture of the thermostat?

Sounds like they have the cheap analog thermostat.

Yes, it's a cheap analog thermostat.

I don't know why it wouldn't slide but it seems like you would be able to pop the cover off to get a better look. If it's stuck at a low temp it won't turn obviously.

There is an on/off on the bottom. It's on.

I have to go to the storage yard later to see if I can get the cover off. I'll post if that's where the problem lies.

I don't have a battery disconnect. Is that what you're referring to? The batteries are on a trickle charger.

The first thing I do is. Hmmm what is that. Oh yeah I take off the thermostat and either jump the two wires or remove them from the thermostat and put them together. That lets me know if it is the thermostat. Last time I had trouble just had to set reset switch on furnace. That took removing 12 screws on outside of Motorhome.

OK. I AM a complete dork! I went into the trailer, took a better picture, removed the cover, took another picture, and I wore my glasses this time. I don't know what the top tab does, but the bottom one has what I believe is the fan speeds or maybe amount of heat. As you can tell, I have no experience with this type of thermostat. Anyway, it was waaaaay to hot to even try to turn on the heater. I'll have to wait until early morning and open all the windows to cool it down first.

Thank you EVERYONE for your input! I'll keep trying.

Thank you. The top tab does not move. I didn't see anything not allowing it to move.

that top tab needs to go to the left to turn the unit on, it is currently in the off position. if you look real close on it it says off with an arrow-> my parents 2004 surveyor had this style of thermostat, you felt like you were going to break it turning it on...

OK, Bogieboy...... I'm going to go out and see if I can push that stubborn tab to the left!
If I break it, I guess I'll buy a digital thermostat.

Thanks!
