Chaparral 381RD Sewage smell

Hello everyone. We have a 2018 381RD. Just got home from a week trip to a county park. Didn't have full hook ups (but I don't think that would've mattered). Noticed a sometimes strong sewage smell coming up from under the bathroom sink cabinet. Never even had the black tank 1/2 full. When we noticed the smell, I did empty the tank and put a new bottle of blue treatment in. Smell seemed to get a little better, but was still there the whole trip. Any ideas where it would be coming from, or why? Not coming from the toilet...

Thank you in advance!!

Jason

Sound like your Air Admittance Valve stuck open.

It's usually very easy to replace. Just twist off the old one and twist on a new one.

Thanks for the tip.. That looks easy, but are you talking about a valve on the sink drain? We are smelling sewer. The sink goes to the gray water tank. Would that be producing the same kind of smell?

Thanks again.

You may find that the smell for a gray tank is worse then from the black, check or replace the under sink valve and see if that stops the smell.

You can test the AAV by covering it with a plastic bag and taping it tightly to seal it.

Had the same thought. Smell from a gray tank can be bad

I couldn’t not find the correct size / type AAV anywhere. I contacted the parts dept. at FR and I was able to order the part. Cost $1. Yep that’s what I thought too, but yes $1 plus shipping cost of $4. I ordered 2.
