Chaparral height vs Silverado
The pin height of Chappy x-lite 31rls is about 48 inches from the ground. The fifth wheel hitch (in lowest slot) is 55 inches from the ground in my 2017 2500 Silverado. There is about 6 inches clearance from bed sides. Seems to tow fine. Is this something to be concerned with?
first time 5th wheeler, appreciate your thoughts

welcome to the forum its a great place to get your questions answered. If your rig is riding nose high is may reduce your fuel milage slightly and the rear tires may experience a little more wear.

It's hard to assess the impact of the 7in mismatch in height when considering squat, unlevel ground, etc.
The 6" off the bed rail is one key metric. 6" is the preferred minimum.
The other is how level the trailer is ie, the height difference front to rear on level ground when hitched?

I will recheck, but I believe when hitched, the front of the 5er is about 5 inches higher than the back. Thanks for replying.

We have a 2016 360 IBL behind 2016 2500. I am about 5 inches nose high. Pulls fine, have never had an issue, even in high winds. With that said I am looking to build a sub frame on the trailer and add 2-3 inches lift to level it out. Looking to do some parking lot stops without unhitching. As it sits today you won't be sleeping without unhitching.

Ever scrape the rear end going into gas stations? Tire shops?

I have never scraped bottom even though some places had some nasty bumps. As for tires, have not had the unit long enough to have tire issues (have about 2,700 miles in 6 months). Maybe a good thing is to take unit to the scales and see how much weight is on each axle (????)
I agree with natedawg that it would be good to be level as then could keep hitched for short night stay. How much does this cost tho, and what are people's thoughts on keeping hitched for a night?

I have never scraped, though with a longer rig you typically take the turn at an angle. After owning a low TT before I think I subconsciously take any suspect turn at an angle, so I may be biased.

5th Wheel slant
Ok, I have a 3 to 4 inch difference between front of 5th wheel and back (from frame to ground, front being higher). Unit drives well and I have never bottomed out. Went to weigh station and front axle has 3,100 lbs and back axle has 3,880. Axle weighted for 5,000 each. Tires are load D (will probably switch to E) and has max. load of 2,540.
I have about 6 inches from side of truck to camper side so no room to adjust hitch down any more. Do I have an issue, and if so what can be done?
