Coachmen Clipper and Equinox??

Anyone towing a Clipper with an Equinox or anything similar? Our Equinox has a 3500 lb tow rating with a hitch weight limitation of 400 lbs. Some of the Clipper models fall within that range, but we are concerned about towability, sway, etc. Not sure we have ever seen an Equinox towing any kind of travel trailer. Has anyone spotted an Equinox in the wild towing a TT?

I think it could be done. I don't know which model you're talking about, but I see a few that are 2200 to 2400 lbs. With a good anti-sway WDH and a brake controller, it should be O.K.

We pulled a Clipper 17FQ with a Toyota Sienna. I did struggle fully loaded on hills, so we recently upgraded our tow vehicle.

The tongue weight is something you will have to watch. My Clipper 17RD has a tongue weight of 550lbs, that's with two propane tanks and two batteries though.

If the vehicle is a 4 cyl you won't be happy.A 6cyl may be better and use a wd hitch.I have a clipper 16 fb at about 2500# and am alot happier pulling it with and old tahoe and v8. The problem is more wind drag than weight really out on the road, and hilly country.I wasn't happy using my 08 colorado 4wd in real conditions but it wasn't a v6. No sense in overworking a small vehicle. And it is much less tiring on the driver and safer.

I pull a Clipper 17BH with a 6cyl Toyota 4Runner (5000lb towing capacity). I use a wdh but I still feel like it's pushing it. I REALLY feel wind, hills, trucks, etc.
I sure wouldn't recommend cutting it too close.

We had a Dodge Dakota V8 Magnum, with a tow rating of 6000lb, and we were towing a 17BH - we found it really struggled on hills and overheated our engine on a regular basis. Once we upgraded to our current tow vehicle, all that went away.
