Coachmen Freedom 248rbs hitch weight

Looking at this trailer web site says the hitch weight is 728lbs
.The I’ve is 5574lbs and gvwr is 7500. Hitch weight seems high is the726 hitch weight fully loaded at 7500 or the upward of 574. I want to tow with f150.

Thanks

Website dry hitch weight numbers are for a stripped down version of the trailer. No battery, no options, no water and no cargo. Propane weight is included in dry number, since around 2009.

Take about 13% the trailers GVWR to be safe even though you may not load to that. That puts you around 975....Check your trucks payload on the door sticker..Add your weight, passenger weight, cargo and the weight of the hitch plus 975.

The 248RBS is heavy. Need a little more info on your F150 as the cargo capacity varies widely depending on how it is equipped.

Hi,

I do have a 2016 248RBS. From what I can tell, it looks quite similar to the newer models.

Here are the numbers:

Tongue : 904 lbs
Axle1: 2778 lbs
Axle2: 2822 lbs
TOTAL: 6504 lbs

Those are the numbers "ready to camp", which for me means:
- 2x 20lbs propane full
- battery
- empty tanks (maybe 1-2 gal of fresh, no more)
- fridge full of food, drinks, beer, etc.

Tow vehicle is a 2018 F-150 SuperCrew 6.5' bed with a 3.5L EcoBoost, max tow package.

EDIT: I'm using a Husky Centerline TS between the 2. Initial setup a a bit longer than chains, but it works wonder afterwards.

Tows just fine and I still have a bit a room for some cargo in the bed if need be.

Hope that helps,

Simon B.

I have 2019 248RBS and love the floor plan. Tow it with a 2012 F150 5.0 supercrew 5.5 bed with no issues so far. Although I haven’t towed with all full tanks. Of course I have a WDH and use an anti-sway. I added airbags as an extra precaution.

248 RBS Hitch Weight

We have a 2015 model. We use a 2018 Silverado CC 4x4, with 5.3 and 3.42 gears. Our tongue weight checked on a local scale, loaded and ready to travel was 808. Now that is stuff for only two people and 4 days, and some careful arranging.
Going thru the Quachita Mountains of eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas,
it wasn't bad, but I was never comfortable. I use a Equalizer WDH.
I really believe any more then 820lbs would test my resolve with my current truck.
