Curved shower rod install

So my wife wants more room in our 288BHS shower. It only has the small roof mounted rail now.

I want to install a curved rod. Either fixed or the one that folds inward when not in use.

My question is that one side will have to mount to an exterior wall. I'm scared to put a screw in that wall!

I'd prefer the foldable rod but it's heavier. Plus I'm having a hard time finding a curved rod that'll either fit or it trimmable.

Any ideas or tips? Thanks!

I installed the folding one in about 5 minutes. Don't worry about the exterior wall, just use screws no more than 1 inch long.

Was thinking about getting a folding rod myself.

I have a small shower opening.
1. Did you need to (or can you) cut it down for a shower opening smaller than the package states?

The walls seem really weak on my trailer.
2. How did you secure the rod on the interior wall?

3. How did you secure the rod on the exterior wall?

Thanks!!

With the varying widths I think this one is the best option.

Stromberg Carlson EXT-3542 Extend-A-Shower https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0031XXW4O..._4RTnvb0ZQ9PVD

I was just leery of drilling into the exterior wall.

I bought the folding rod and was able to install it in the same place as the straight one. Works perfect.

My stock rod isn't a rod at all. It is more like a thin strip of metal across the roof that uses roller hooks.

Thanks to you both, I will look further into the shorter rods. I don't think my shower opening is 35" wide.

If it were me I'd use a stud finder so locate a stud, (metal or wood) that will keep you from making wholes where there's not a stud. you also could tap with a knuckle or lightly with a hammer and listen to the difference in tone. a solid sound is a stud a hollow sound is not

I've purchased the extend-a-shower I just have to install it now. Have to wait a bit b/c the camper is at the dealer getting a new refrigerator.

I can't find a clear description of what's INSIDE the wall where I'm going to drill. I don't think there's an aluminum stud b/c of where it's placed. I imagine there's foam there before I get to the Axdel and fiberglass on the exterior.

Anybody have a 'real' cross-section instead of what's on the website?
