Finally getting built

Ok, I can get a little more excited now. Just got the VIN for our new fiver yesterday. Been waiting on Coachmen to send the info to our dealer on our order. So it should be delivered in about 5 weeks from all we are told. Hopefully.. My wife really worked a deal with them. Got several upgrades for free. I don't know how she does it. She's a great negotiator. I don't usually even speak.

We looked at a few front living room models and really liked them, but have another couple that always travel with us and there was just no dedicated room for them. We are looking forward to it for sure.

How long from the time you ordered until now did it take to get a vin? Is it going to be a 2017 model year? We ordered a 395RL a few weeks ago and I am trying to gage how long it is really going to take to get it!

I think it's been about a month or so. The dealer told me yesterday they have the VIN and the trailer is due to be done on the 8th or 9th of march and delivery should be around 2 wks. My wife did the paperwork and I'm fairly sure it's a 2016 with several 2017 upgrades. The factory guy was there when we first saw it and we did a lot of talking with him about what we wanted in a trailer. He said it could be done and the dealer agreed. Seems once you get the VIN then it really doesn't take too long to build.

Mine was finish built Jan 4. And they received it at the dealer jan.15th. The dealer can get it there faster they are in charge of having transport set up to be brought to them. Considering the camper was suppost to be there by the first week of December and got pushed back to January. I didn't see what camper did you order

We ordered the Brookstone 395RL. I'm fairly sure our dealer will get it delivered as soon as he can so we'll stop calling him. haha

We visited the factory a few years back. Saw where they make the Brookstone and Chaparral (on the same line). Once your trailer starts on the line (as a frame only), it does not take long at all for it to be made.

IIRC they complete 25-30 trailers a day. Seems there were around 30 stations it goes through. So from in the door to out the door, it may take about a day. Again, IIRC.

Good luck with your new trailer.

Dang, that's fast. I would personally not have a problem if they took a few days on mine. But I know it's all about volume....Just hope all the workers are having a really good day.

Wow, just got the call from our salesman last night. Our trailer is at the dealership. Delivered about 3 weeks early. This is great news. Unfortunately we are not able to go get it till the 19th. Dang work always gets in the way. But just knowing It is almost home is great news. Now have enough to time to rig it out for our Yosemite trip in May.

I know a lot of people asked me why didn't I just wait to move the stuff from one trailer to another when we picked it up. It was part of my devious plan to empty it out before. Now my wife has seen the amount of stuff we had in it so I'm hoping it won't all go back.. At least for a while.

I did the same thing. I still have 4 big tubs of stuff from the old that didn't go in the new. Unfortunately the DW decided we needed 'new' things for the new trailer.

If you want to really upset yourself weigh all the stuff you took out! We had taken out "all" of our stuff prior to going to storage then when we ordered new unit we went to storage building to clean it out. Two pickup loads later it was empty. About June I kept telling my wife that we were over weight. So for kicks I weighed all the stuff that came out in the clean out. Those "few" items weighed in around 1200 lbs so given the fact that our trailer has a 1400 lb capacity I know I was over weight. The hard part is explaining to the wife and kids that we can't load as much "essential" stuff in the new one when we get it.

What do you suppose the bulk of the weight came from?

About 350 lbs of outside cooking items. Got that down to 48 going into new camper as those were the only items we used anyway!

Crazy. I can't imagine I have anything in that range. When I moved everything from my travel trailer to my fifth wheel, it was definitely alot of stuff and took a solid hour, just to move it all, but most everything was pretty light. Pots, pans, comforters, blankets, pillows, DVDs, bathroom and bedroom stuff was the bulk. The lower storage was a small grill, table, 4 folding chairs, and several setup and breakdown boxes plus all the spare junk I take "just in case". Can't imagine all of it weighing more than 500-600lbs combined.
