First Trip In Freedom Express 192rbs

After 20 years of this you expect there to be issues with any new rig. Try to deal with them before you head out. And adding new shelves to double the pantry space and modifying the table rack in the pass through were a good start. Building the kennel for the dog was a bit of work but made good use of the space under the bed.

So this weekend, we finally got our first trip in to shake this rig down. We were at Prairie Creek in Benton Al. A COE park on the river.
The trip was great. Weather was sunny and in the low 80s. Temps dipped below 50 at night and it looked like every tent camper in the park packed up the next morning. But the mild autumn weather was a pleasant change from a long hot summer.

We ended up towing with the 2500HD.
The 8.1L/Allison had no trouble moving it down the road. But may need to add a little more fresh water to increase tongue weight.

the Good.
-Solid as a rock once parked and jacks down.
-Can run the microwave and A/C at the same time.
-Very nice lighting package. Awning light lit the area well and the front lights -made it easy to find our way back at night.
-Oven worked well and didn't burn the bottom of the bread. Spark ignition actually worked.
- Ended up needing the furnace and it easily warmed us up from the 50's to 68 and held it.

the Bad(well not great)
-Hot water drain was leaking and would not completely tighten up. Got it down to an occassional drip.
-"Accent lights" in the overhead cabinet are just silly they don't work if you actually use the cabinet for storage.
-The GE Air Con is kind of loud, even on low.
-You can't adjust the shelves in the fridge. The distance to the bathroom wall is such that it won't swing far enought to get the shelves out. The only way to adjust them is to remove the door. And changing the door swing direction will require pulling the fridge out about 4-6 inches.

Found the same problem with the fridge shelves. Ridiculous. Have to pull the fridge to remove the door. I am just going to deal with the shelves like they are.

Ours is a different size, but I do like how it pulls better with water in the tank and loaded for travel.

I changed the door swing in our Fr/Ex 192RBS and REALLY like the change. Can now juussssst change shelves, but the big gain is more convenient access.
There is, however, one caveat- the freezer door seal needs to be replaced as it is too "squished" on what is now the hinge side, showing almost an eighth-inch gap. This has caused the unit to run too much and frost up the freezer while also allowing food to thaw. I added some weather stripping to temporarily "fix", dealer has it now to replace the seal.
