Freedom Express 192rbs slideout question
Hello I am new here and wanted to ask any 192rbs owners if they have had any issues with their slideout. My husband and I are considering purchasing this unit. We really like everything about it but my husband is concerned about the single track slide. It looks very light weight. The one we were looking at at the dealer had the slide sloped in toward the trailer and when looking at the bottom rubber seal from the outside we could actually see light from the inside of the trailer. We didn't know if this was a bad unit or typical of the 192rbs. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hopefully someone with that particular model will come along and comment.
Those are called sofa slides, and they've been around for years. we had one in a 2006 model and it operated well. I broke a bracket on it after several years, but it was easy to fix. And even with the broken bracket it would still operate correctly.
The one at the dealer probably wasn't ran all the way to the limit, or it needed adjusting.

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. I'm hoping someone will come along that owns this particular model and give me their feedback

This is a lightweight slide but seems to work well for us (1 year). I give it an assist when extending it by pushing firmly on the top edge to hopefully extend its life. Check closely under the slide to look for possible water damage and the first few times out, if it rains, monitor to catch possible issues while still under warranty. I don't foresee major problems with the mechanism but lube with the proper lubricant 2-3 times a year and treat the rubber seals each season (inside and out). It only extends 18" and weight is minimal. Hope that helps!

We have a 2015 192RBS and absolutely love it. We were out for six months in 2016 and took it all the way from Georgia to Fairbanks and back without a bit of trouble. We did run into someone in Nashville with a 2014 model who was having trouble. When he pushed the button for the slide to go out, it just made a grinding noise. It seemed no one could tell him what was wrong. But from our perspective, it is a great unit.

Bathroom and slide renovations
We want to find a bit more room in ours and am looking at bathroom and slide renovations. Not much space to work with but we will get there! Already put drawers under the bed so we don't have to lift it all the time.

Thanks, everyone has been very helpful! My husband was concerned about seeing daylight through the bottom seal and insects coming in but it seems like you all have had no issues.

We have a 2017 192RBS, bought it in July I think it was. We have taken it on several outings with no problems or leaks with the slide-out even during hard rain storms with the slide out. We really like it, it is just about perfect for the two of us. Easy to tow and maneuver and has all the conveniences one could ask for.

Great observation. We've had our 2016 192RBS for just about 5,200 miles of year round camping over the last 1 1/2 years with no problems with our slide out. In the course of an annual inspection at our dealer they did lubricate the mechanism and provide a slight adjustment for a tiny misalignment. We do lubricate the seals ourselves.
Pretty soon after we started camping we saw the gaps in the seal on the bottom, and we shared the concerns of others on this thread who feared intrusion of insects and loss of cooling/heating efficiency. So my initial - and kind of feeble - means of addressing this was to stuff some small washcloths into those gaps by reaching under the sofa. It was a bit of a comical part of our setup checklist, but it pretty much worked.
But I got tired of that and came up with a better solution. I took a length of foam water hose insulation and trimmed it to fit under the exterior slide seal along the bottom. Specifically, I cut a segment out of the middle section to fit snugly around the slide mechanism. So our camping checklist now includes an item to insert this foam material along the bottom of the slide exterior once the slide is extended outward. And so far it has perfectly sealed the previously visible gaps as well as provided a tight seal preventing loss of heating/cooling. Our takedown checklist specifies removing the foam material. Once removed, I just toss it in the passthrough.
We absolutely love our 192RBS and have had lots of fun adding a few things here and there to make it a very efficient and comfortable home on the road. Hope it works out for you.

Can't speak to the particular Coachmen you're asking about, but I do have experience with a single track slide system.
I currently own a 2012 Skyline Koala 21CS. Have had it since July of 2013. It has a shallow slide that's about 18" deep. Our sofa is in the slide. Knock on wood, I haven't had any problems with the slide since I bought the trailer.

Single track slide? I am not familiar with a single track. So it only has one rail as per the lower photo in the center of the slide and has a roller on each end I take it?

Correct. You would only see that type on smaller, shallow slide systems.

Great that you found a solution, but man that sounds like a design flaw to me. I'm surprised Coachmen has not addressed this. Do they know about it?

Thank you all so much for your input. Last train that was exactly the information we were hoping to find. We really appreciate owners saying how much they enjoy their 192RBS. We went to the dealer today and looked again. We just need to sell our 2017 Jayco hybrid. We liked that camper but are looking forward to a designated bed and more floor space. Then we will purchase the freedom express!

What Jayco hybrid do you have? We just traded in a 2013 Jayco hybrid, the big model X23B for our Coachmen Apex. Like you, we wanted a true walk around bed.

That's a popular model. You shouldn't have any problems selling it.

Well, perhaps this was a classic case of "necessity is the mother of invention." It works well for us. Water pipe/hose foam insulation wrap comes in a couple of different diameters, and I can't recall at the moment which size we use. So since it's cheap perhaps you can buy one of each and see which one will stuff under the slide best fit.
Let us know how you are using your 192 RBS. Living in this part of Texas we are blessed to be able to camp year round, and we do. It's been a great little home for us through torrid heat and frigid temps (just got back from the Texas Hill Country when we had a couple of nights of 15-16 degrees) and winds and thunderstorms. All with no problems. Post a pic when you get yours!

Thanks everyone. We have our Jayco on RV Trader, Craigslist and a fb market site. Hoping it sells soon. We really want to move forward on the 192RBS!

We did mention the issue to our dealer, but the service people had no better solution than the one(s) we had already come up with. I have not sent any complaints or messages further up line.
